February 12, 20215 yr This is the first time I am doing that so I prefer to seek help: I bought a new SSD specifically for MSFS named "E", my Windows 10 Home Edition is on "C" another SSD. To install MSFS I created a folder "Simulator MSFS" on drive "E" and started to install. My question is: Do I need to create any sort of linkage between my C drive and my E drive for MSFS to work? If so what should I do please? Many thanks for any assistance.
February 12, 20215 yr No. Install MSFS in E: (happens to be the same here for me) and it will create funny mandatory folders like WindowsApps and WpSystem. That's where your Launcher (.exe) will be installed. You may then create another (sub)folder on E: like "Content" and direct the installer to install the downloaded data (scenery and planes etc) into that folder. Else it will end up somewhere on your profile path (default if you don't change it). Install Win10 fresh on a new SDD and on Monday also MSFS on a new dedicated SDD. Win10 went smooth. MSFS I am trying to get installed since Monday, currently again downloading some fs-base package forr the hundredth time, driving me nuts but I am getting closer.... February 12, 20215 yr Don't need to do anything on your part, just point it at "Simulator MSFS" during install. Microsoft does put symlinks from the c: drive to your install drive (E:) for some directories, maybe because some addon's packages expect them to be there on c: ?? Also it makes finding your "Community" directory easier regards
February 12, 20215 yr The only thing I had an issue with in having MSFS on an SSD, was installing the Lionheart TB21 Trinidad. It insisted on creating and installing to a community folder on the C Drive, but all I had to do was simply copy its folder to the community folder on my SSD and it was all okay, so other than being a bit annoying, it wasn't a problem.
