Help with RXP GTN 750 on X-Plane 11

Featured Replies

I need rudimentary help.  I just purchased RXP GTN 750 for X-Plane 11 on 2/16/21 running on a Windows 10 64bit.   I just want to get it to work on the default 172 by laminar research.  I went through all of the installation steps and started up X-plane.  When I load a flight, and go into the plug-ins menu, all I'm able to do is get a 2D window of the bezel to pop up.  The trainer does not load. It's just a black screen. The trainer did come up on it's own during the original installation.  I have no idea how to get it to show up on the actual panel and replace the default 530 on the panel.  Is there some specialized knowledge I need to make that happen?  I've searched on this message board to look for an word not allowed's tutorial with no luck.  I know it must be possible since I've seen pretty versions of it on youTube.  Does RXP have any support?  Has anyone had any luck getting their money back if it doesn't work?

I see other posts that talk about looking at RXP log files and messing with dll files.  I have no idea where to find these and no idea what to do with them if I did. Can the vendor just put up a simple post as to how to clear up this problem?  I can't find any comprehensive instructions on how to uninstall and reinstall.  I've wasted far too much time on this already.

Hello mac2555

Let me get this straight...you did not properly research  the RealityXP Support forum for aircraft integrated out of box...or...for community mods for other aircraft. You did not download any manuals for instructions or tutorials, such as...

https://reality-xp.com/support/trainingcenter/userguides/index.html
https://reality-xp.com/support/updates/index.html
https://reality-xp.com/index.html#tabs
https://www.avsim.com/forums/forum/767-the-realityxp-support-forum/

You did not see multiple examples posted here with members aircraft and their ini's.

Did you search XPlane.org for the multiple examples contained there.

But you saw ...a video...and that combined with poor research is ample to put the blame of wasted hours onto others...

RealityXP Check...pun intended.

The GTN 750/650 will display as a 2D window popup/popout in most aircraft...when installed correctly.

Aircraft with GTN750 integration (with panel bezel), out of box, are listed here...

The X-Plane 11 default Laminar Research C172SP requires a modification for the GTN750 to be displayed in the aircraft panel. It is NOT integrated out of box for the GTN750 but members of this forum spent many hours doing this for the community.
One such modification is...

If the Popout dispay is blank, it could be a bad installation or your antivirus solution causing this. You would know this if you read the following...
https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/595388-gtn-750-bank-screens-anti-virus-false-positive/
and you would know the solution.

Basically every step required to install, uninstall, create "virus scanning exclusions' and to release "dll's and lic files" if your virus solution has quarantined them, has been repeated numerous times.

This is what you need to do...
Copy and paste the text contents of the GTN logfiles into your next post.     Page 23 0f 25 in Reality XP GTN User's Manual (XPlane)

...\My Documents\rxpGTN.xpl.log
...\My Documents\rxpGtnSim.dll.log

@mac2555

Hi,

I'm sorry for the unsatisfactory out-the-box experience.

This is the most important step:

Otherwise common sense tells there is no way we can even envision what could be the problem on your system if we don't have some information.

NB: if you also read the content, not just post it and ask for help, you might also find clues leading you to solutions, either because they are self-evidently listed in the log files, or, because the log file content could help you finding the right keywords for an online search.

Regardless of Draggendrop’s less than welcoming smackdown of a message board neophyte, net sum, I’m appreciative of the help in navigating towards a solution.

Also see recent posts about windows defender flagging one or more DLLs and moving them to quarantine.  Check you windows defender virus and threat protection protection history and if the rxpGtnSim32.dll file has been removed, you need to restore it and whitelist the folder.  There's a few posts about this and it sounds like what you're experiencing.

So it turns out that rxpGtnSim32.dll file was missing.  I didn't figure out how to find a quarintine or threat protection history.  I looked directly for the file in the bin folder and it wasn't there.  I disabled the Windows Real-time virus protection, reloaded the software and the blank screen problem was resolved.  From other posts, I'm inferring that I have to add an exclusion on Microsoft Defender Antivirus for the path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Reality XP\GTN Simulation\X-Plane\bin in order for me to turn my Antivirus back on.  Does that sound right?
Thanks for steering me in the right direction.
