Can my PC run P3DV5?

Recommended Posts

Hello guys, how are you?

I'm thinking of switching to P3D. Specifically version 5. Now I am wondering whether the simulator is running on my gaming laptop.

Specifications:

  • Intel Core i7-10750H
  • 16 GB DDR4-2666 RAM
  • 512GB PCI-Express-NVMe-SSD
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660Ti 6 GB GDDR6 VRAM

The specifications also states DirectX 12 with feature level 12_0 or greater
https://www.prepar3d.com/system-requirements/

With my graphics card, I'm not sure whether it supports that. Of course, I also ask myself whether I can play the simulator reasonably at high settings.

best regards
Chris 😉

Yes, it will run just fine, but not at high settings.

GTX 1660Ti should be OK for DirectX 12 but as mentioned above, dont expect great performance if all settings sliders are set to the right.

With some careful, selective P3D setting adjustments however, it should be able to handle it.

Also, there are some scenery addons that are heavy in the vRAM usage department especially with 4096 textures, its possible your GPU will demand more than the 6Gb VRAM you have available, so its best if you reduce the Texture Resolution down to 2048 or even 1024 to keep VRAM usage down to a reasonable level and avoid CTDs.

CPU, RAM and SSD thta you have should be fine.

Yes, just keep draw distance low and texture resolution no higher then1024 and keep shadow's to a minimum. You will be fine.

I was looking for same question. I also have predator Helios 300 with Intel i7-9750H CPU, 16GB of RAM and GTX1660Ti. I am getting some CTDs, but my settings was sitting at 2040HD and some how shadows was at middle level. I change to textures to1024 x 1024 and shadows off. Let`s see if it helps.

 Thanks guys.
