I have read the>Traffic toolbox instructions but they are really confusing. >>Regards>>Shri >I'm assuming you have the Deluxe version of FSX.You need to first install the SDK.Once you install the SDK, note the path tothe Traffic Toolbox SDK.You will need to add the following lines to your dll.xml file ( located with your fsx.CFG file ) Traffic ToolboxFalseFalse..Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDKSDKEnvironment KitTraffic Toolbox SDKtraffictoolbox.dll The should reflect YOUR path to the SDK. I installed mine on the same level as FSX, under the Microsoft Games folder. If you did the same, then the above code should work. Be sure to add it ABOVE the last line in the dll.xml file, which is: In FSX you should have the Traffic Toolbox available in the drop-down menu. Paul
December 22, 200619 yr Author I still wonder how on earth that in 2006 (almost going into 2007)things like these still have to be done manualy?BTW, if you have installed the SDK, everything is already in the dll.xml file. You just need to correct the path. Win11 Pro 64-bit, Ryzen 5800X3D, Corsair H115i, Gigabyte X570S UD, EVGA 3080Ti XC3 Ultra 12GB, 64 GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600. December 23, 200619 yr Author Well, i was a bit quick.I corrected the path(s) in the dll.xml file, to be found in:C:Documents and SettingsApplication dataMicrosoftFSXbut i don't get the Tools menu in FSX.Been trying already all evening to make it work, no go.After reading it back and forth a zillion times, i can only admit that i don't understand everything what it written there:I have a problem with this line: Note that the Path is relative to the installation Microsoft Flight Simulator X folder. The path given above will change if the SDK or Flight Simulator were not installed to their default folders. If the dll is installed correctly, the tools should appear in the Tools->Traffic Toolbox menu in Flight Simulator. If i understand this correctly (which i don't because i can't get it to work) i need to point the path(s) to my SDK installation which sits on my computer at:G:Mircosoft Flight Simulator XSDK (i did install it directly into the Microsoft Flight Simulator X directory under the name SDK).So i should change the line in the dll.xml:..Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDKSDKEnvironment KitTraffic Toolbox SDKtraffictoolbox.dllto this line:G:Microsoft Flight SimulatorSDKEnvironment KitTraffic Toolbox SDKtraffictoolbox.dllBut that doesn't work so i alredy tried a lot of variations of these path(s) with no luck at all.The Creating Special Effects text gives a slightly different text then the one for the TrafficToolBox:...and that the Path is either absolute or relative to the installation Microsoft Flight Simulator X folder. The path given above will change if the SDK or Flight Simulator were not installed to their default folders.I understand "absolute" as the example i have given above for my install and "relative" as:..SDKEnvironment KitTraffic Toolbox SDKtraffictoolbox.dllagain for my installation. What i still don't understand is the line:The path given above will change if the SDK or Flight Simulator were not installed to their default folders.I can see only one path, so how can one point to SDK if it's is not installed into it's default location and FSX is or if FSX is in it's default location but the SDK isn't.Can someone wright out the full path like it should be for a default and non-default location? The default unstall would be like so:Microsoft Games||-------------------Microsoft Flight Simulator X|-------------------Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDKwith the folders "GMAX" and "SDK" inside the "Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK" folder. Both on the same "level", this the ".." which tells FSX to look back out on the same level.Do you have: (1) Microsoft Flight Simulator X||-------------------Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK and the two folders or do you have: (2)Microsoft Flight Simulator X||-------------------SDK|-------------------GMAXIf it's the second configuration, then SDKEnvironment KitTraffic Toolbox SDKtraffictoolbox.dllshould work.If it's the first example, then use Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDKSDKEnvironment KitTraffic Toolbox SDKtraffictoolbox.dllHope that's clear. December 23, 200619 yr Author Thx Paul,Yup, it's clear but it still doesn't work.I have:Microsoft Flight Simulator X||-------------------SDK|-------------------GMAXAnd in my dll.xml i have the path set to:SDKEnvironment KitTraffic Toolbox SDKtraffictoolbox.dllI found this yesterday after installing FSUIPC4 which creates a similar entry in the dll.xml. So i pointed my other entry's in dll.xml in the same manner as FSUIPC4 did (except that this one resides in the Modules folder). After reloading FSX, i got the Add-On menu (which FSUIPC4 creates) in FSX but still no Tools menu. Here's my complete dll.xml which i already used yesterday.<?xml version="1.0" encoding="Windows-1252"?>Launchdll.xmlFalseFalseObject Placement ToolTrueFalseSDKMission Creation Kitobject_placement.dllTraffic ToolboxTrueFalseSDKEnvironment KitTraffic Toolbox SDKtraffictoolbox.dllVisual Effects ToolTrueFalseSDKEnvironment KitSpecial Effects SDKvisualfxtool.dllFSUIPC 4FalseModulesFSUIPC4.dllI still don't get why the FSUIPC4 works and the TrafficToolBox and the 2 others from the SDK don't. To be 100% about the paths, i copied them over from the adress bar in Windows Explorer, still no go.The SDK and FSUIPC4 are installed over a fresh installed FSX (MyTraffic created way to much stutter) after i uninstalled everything, checked the registery and installation dirs for leftovers and after a reboot.
