December 25, 200619 yr Hello, the runwaylights and all the other lights in FSX at night are very, very bright. It is really overdone on my LCD screens. They look nearly like lightexplosions. What can I do, to have the lights not so very dominant ?Thanks for your ideas in advanceArry
December 25, 200619 yr Hi Arry,Add this to the [Display] section of your FSX.cfg file:RUNWAY_LIGHTS_SURFACE_SCALAR=1.0RUNWAY_LIGHTS_VASI_SCALAR=1.3RUNWAY_LIGHTS_APPROACH_SCALAR=1.25RUNWAY_LIGHTS_STROBE_SCALAR=1.4Change the value of each to suit your taste. The lower the number, the less bright the associated light will be.Happy HolidaysJim Karn
December 25, 200619 yr I was under the uderstanding that this .cfg edit did not work in FSX.Off to try it now!Thanks........... Glenn Ryzen 3700X, X570 Pro Wifi, 32GB 3600mhz RAM, Nvidia Titan Xp "Galactic Empire", RM750x PSU, H700 case, 2x NVMe M2 SSD, 1x SATA SSD
December 25, 200619 yr Hi,This is a welcome bit of information! At a real airport you can have the approach lighting increased or decreased during the approach. This would be a great feature for an "add-on" gauge! Then, you could control the lighting right from the cockpit.Or, FX could add it as an ATC menu item! Better idea?Anyway, Jim, where did you find this information?Every now and then, this type of great answer arrives but where does it come from?Answers/specifications/limits burried in the MS knowledge base or from programmers getting information from an applications SDK? December 25, 200619 yr Hi Vaughan,It was mentioned a couple of weeks ago here in the forum. I tried it and found it to be as effective in FSX as it was in FS9. You can also change the halo and spotlight bmp's to something less subdued and adjust the numbers to your liking. Jim Karn
December 25, 200619 yr I missed the post earlier on the forum about this.Great to learn it also works in FS9. I will go back and add it FS9 and see what it looks like. Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
