P3d V5.1 & Quest 2 help

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I am new to the VR scene and am struggling to get the Quest 2 working with P3d.

I managed to get MSFS 2020 working quite well, with settings adjusted for a fairly smooth experience.

As for 5.1, I start it up as a normal flight, then switch the VR using the menu bar. Select P3d in the headset. However, at this point, the screen just goes blank (black) on both the headset and monitor.

Ive tried looking for solutions but cannot find anything. Would anyone be able to offer some help?

My system

CPU I9-10900k (no O/C)

GPU RTX3090

RAM 32gb

Everything is update date in terms of drivers and saoftware and what not.

Thank you

Make sure the headset is woken up before activating VR in P3D. I have a Rift S and I often get the black screen if I haven't worken the HMD up before activating VR.

Also, it's common wisdom to run Oculus headsets through SteamVR with P3Dv5 as it's not smooth with the Oculus driver.

Thank you for your help. I found the solution which was that I hadnt switched the HMD Display mode to Stereo in V5.

Back thank for the tip on steam VR. Ill give it ago!

Ah. I see. You've been using EnvShade? It breaks single pass and gives you that exact problem. You can use stereo of course, but it's very peformance heavy. If you want single pass back, uninstall and reinstall the P3D client. This will also reset your shaders to the original, though.

Happy flying.
