What is so different about it?

Okay, i just got a new computer and i could run probably 45-50 FPS on FS9, and everything was smooth as glass. But I also just got FSX for Xmas woohoo! I installed it and can get like 10 FPS with mild scenery settings....is there anything i can do to speed up the frame rates? With a brand new computer, I should be able run good frame rates, right? Or is FSX just super complicated??Any suggestions are appreciated!Matt

Turn water & auto-gen OFF. City scape textures actually look good in these conditions. See pic. This should save about 10 fps. I run other scenery & mesh settings on the high end, but with little traffic, boats, AI. & get around 20-25 fps. For large airports & lot's of AI traffic ---- use FS9!I run both, as I like the higher resolution textures of FSX, and it has an improved "feel" of flight. Yet sometimes, FS9 is the better alternative.L.AdamsonAthlon 64 3800+/2GIG/Geforce7600GS 256MB/ 1600*1200*32 res.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/163984.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/163985.jpg

You can find it in a sticky posted in the PMDG forum. I would stay away from the resizing of textures, unless you really need to, other than that the other tweaks found there helps alot. I also found something that worked for me, (and others, but not everyone) Look at my "Check it out" post in the Hardware forum above. You can also see my Zipping around Manhattan video, in the video forum to see what I get now. You didn't mention your specs, but people reporting with newer ATI cards seem to be getting the best results with my tweak. Older ATI cards, and Nvidia cards don't seem to do as well. I have a E6700, 2GB mem ATI X1950XTX crossfires. Hope this helps.

Thanks

Can't get enough of that SF260, can ya? :)I should break down and buy that one. It would be nice to do a hammerhead stall in one. I hear it's possible to spin the SF260 so I ought to be able to do a hammerhead, right?RhettAMD 3700+ (@2530 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian
