December 28, 200619 yr Flying through the night in FSX, even on a day when the moon is not visible, the ground looks very bright. Lakes are even brighter. Is there some setting that I need to change to have darker nights ? (For instance I tried the area around YMAY, outside of this area there is not much at all, maybe a farm every 10 kilometres or so :-)).Cheers,Siggy Siggy Schwarz
December 28, 200619 yr Do you use a CRT or an LCD monitor. My CRT looks fine but my LCD won't go dark enough to suit me. R-
December 29, 200619 yr Thanks, you are right. My LCD's "Black Level" was too high. It was at its default value of 50% and once I dropped it down to 42%-43% it looked ok! (The monitor is an NEC LCD2190UXp, it does get real black if you want it).Cheers,Siggy Siggy Schwarz

December 29, 200619 yr Author I find that "hotkeys" assigned to adjust the contrast/gamma/brightness is the best. You can adjust for more brightness at night and more contrast at night directly while FS is running. I use ATI Tray Tools for that.Pierre Pierre I9 14900K 5.5 64gb ram 6800 RTX5090 Asus Strix Gaming E
December 30, 200619 yr Thanks, Pierre, that is an even better solution. I have adopted this now too.Cheers,Siggy Siggy Schwarz
December 31, 200619 yr The strangest thing that I've noticed about the nighttime textures isthat the 'lights' will turn on as sunset approaches and the textureswill be very bright but then they will turn off again and slowly comeback on with dimmer textures. I've seen it around the Dallas areaand also around KLIT (Adams Field AR). I assume its everywhere but Ihavent seen it everywhere. I'll be flying into KMSY later... if the visibility is good enough, I'll try to check. | Dave | I've been around for most of my life. There's always a sunset happening somewhere in the world that somebody is enjoying.
