I cannot get the 750 to drive the CDI

Featured Replies

Hi all - I've searched the forums and can't find an answer, but my problem seems so obvious I wonder if I just suck at searching. I'm loving the RXP GTN650/750 in the Laminar 172. Great for IFR practice. The trouble is, I cannot get the 750 to drive the CDI. Yes, NAV/GPS switch is in GPS mode. My expectation (faulty somehow?) is that when I have a FPL in the 750, the top CDI in the Laminar 172 would show my deviation. Further, I would expect that on an LPV approach, after the FAF, the CDI should show both Horizontal and Vertical Deviation just like an ILS. This CDI is working great on ILS btw. Any idea what I am doing wrong? Or did I uncover a bug?

Have you configured it correctly? - see page 5 of the User's Guide

I'm having similar issues with my GTN750.
The issues started after a recent RXP update.
I've tried a full uninstall and reinstall. No joy.
I've narrowed down the symptom to:
1) it only shows proper RNAV CDI deflection when I first load a FPL and/or when I hit NAV on the AP
2) after that, it only takes a "screenshot" of the CDI deflection in that moment. Unless I cycle out of NAV (i.e. HDG) and back, it remains displaced to the deflection it had at the moment of entering the FPL or engaging NAV.
Example shown (below) is for the Torquesim BN-2T, but the same applies to all other aircraft.

@jrhthrd

Just to make sure, is this with the default XP11 C172 with analogue gauges or the G1000?

@Mark Brandon Printup

Do you mean it used to work with the BN-2T before, but since a "recent" RXP GTN update it doesn't anymore?
Do you remember which version of the GTN you had before?

Did you also update XP11 between now and then?
What is the XP11 version you're running otherwise?

When you're saying to all other aircraft, is this happening with the default Baron for example?
I suspect you do have plugins loaded in XP11 (we all do!), what about moving them all except the RXP plugins to a new plugins.disabled folder and compare? This test will help finding out whether there is a conflict with another plugin.

To answer your questions:
1) The anomaly was first observed with JRollon's SIAI Marchetti-SF60, but it may have been precipitated by another X-Aviation aircraft that uses Gizmo64.
2) No idea which version preceded this version of the GTN.
3) Updated to XP11.53 today, but nothing else recent.
Did as requested, removed all plugins, ran native Baron, and it worked.
Reloaded plugins, one at a time, restarted each time, and all was fine until Gizmo64 (required by X-Aviation).
I then ran one of the other planes I know to have seen the problem with (JRollon's SIAI Marchetti-SF60) and the problem persisted.
Shut down and reran the Marchetti without removing Gizmo64, problem persisted.
---1
Shut down, removed Gizmo64, reran the Marchetti, problem persisted.
Did not shut down, reran default Baron, it worked.
Reran Marchetti, problem persisted.
Shut down, left Gizmo64 disabled, ran Baron fine.
Did not shut down, ran Marchetti, anomaly persists.
Shut down, ran Baron fine.
Did not shut down, problem persists with Marchetti.
The odd thing is that these last runs (below the ---1) were with Gizmo64 disabled (verified by running a word search in the XP log.txt and there's no mention of Gizmo). The Marchetti does not use Gizmo64.
Tried a few other aircraft (Trinidad, Carenado Saab 340:, Carenado Twin Commander 690B, VSL Robinson R44, Carenado Navajo, VSkyLabs DC3 ... all seem to work now.
I'd blame the aircraft but they didn't work before and now they do.
So far I think, maybe, I have only narrowed it down to the Marchetti and Islander as perpetual fails (the latter doesn't use Gizmo64), so I'm not even sure if the problem is with Gizmo64, just those planes, or both.
---2
So, I removed all of the scripts again, except GTN/GNS, and put Gizmo64 back in, so just those 3 plugins, reran all of the aforementioned planes.
Islander: FAIL, then I selected "Connect HSI to VOR Source" and it worked!!! So, it was just the settings for that one.
Marchetti: FAIL, no variation of settings fixes it. Oddly, the Master GTN750 has to be #2. I think it's implementation is broken on that plane, specifically.
Trinidad: PASS
Saab 340B: PASS
Twinco: PASS
R44: PASS
Navajo: PASS
DC3: PASS
---
TL;DR version
Something was broken. I had a bunch of planes not working. Now they do.
It might have been the Gizom64 plugin, maybe something else. Not sure.
The Marchetti seems to be broken in it's own right, not associated with RXP.

Hello, I am entirely new to the Flight SiM community and enjoying my journey. Having experimented with X Plane 11 (3 plane models) I am now trying my luck with the Carenado FA50 Ex. I recently purchased the RXP GTN 750 hoping to get on with navigation more easily. After some initial success, I am now stuck like a couple of my fellow SIM enthusiasts judging by the comments I am reading here. My GTN 750 works on the Plug-In screen, BUT has now disconnected from the autopilot entirely. The aircraft in A/P mode now follows some "mythical" undefined sky-path dutifully mapped on the 750. Good thing I can re-fuel in "mid air" and control the weather. Uninstalling and re-installing the 750 made no difference and I did follow the user guide settings instructions. Where should I look next, please?
