Help With GTN (resolved)

Featured Replies

@cartersauce I might have not been clear enough. Let me try to explain differently:

Your screenshots are showing your exclusion list in McAfee excluding the wrong files because of the wrong path.

If you're also using Dedender, this doesn't change the fact McAfee might still be intercepting the files as long as you're not excluding the correct ones, that is the ones in the path showing in the screenshot in the post I've linked above.

i understand, my bad.

I switched the paths to the correct files in Program Data.

even before MacAfee gets to the files in the first place, regardless of what files are excluded, the GTN still shows no startup

Now that we've checked something via PM, let's get back to this discussion.

Can you please cross check whether the following files are on your hard drive:

C:\ProgramData\Reality XP\rxpGtnSim32.dll
C:\ProgramData\Reality XP\rxpGtnSim64.dll

Can you also confirm the files version numbers are both 2.5.28.0? (right click each file > Properties > Details)

Both are there and correct version

Ok so let's recap:

- You've excluded the rxpGtnSim32.dll and rxpGtnSim64.dll files (in "C:\ProgramData\Reality XP") both in McAfee and Defender.

- They are the correct versions and there are not quarantined because they are still in your hard drive in the correct folder.

- None of McAfee and Defender are showing anything in their logs about blocking these files?

- Do you have the Garmin trainers 3.0.1.0 installed (the latest) in C:\ ?

- In the OP you wrote:

I am using the flysimware Learjet 35 with the RXP GTN. I know it worked earlier in the year, but all of the sudden i am getting a black screen,

Is there anything you can recollect doing on your system between before and after which might give us a clue where to look?

With the information in the log file, it seems to me the rxpGtnSim##.dll is not loading on your system for some reason, or, maybe the license is not properly authenticated on your system. For example this could happen when launching the installation, or the simulator, as-admin. In this case, the registry keys could be different or could be unaccessible when running programs as normal user subsequently.

First off, thank you for being patient and working with me. There was one single setting i changed in a different program.

I use Steve's DX10 fixer to mitigate OOM errors as much as possible. In the FSX config settings, i had Buffer Pools set to "GPU Manages Buffers." That was the really the only system change that i made recently, but long enough ago that i forgot i did it.

when I set 'CPU Manages Buffers" in the FSX.CFG settings, that fixed it. everything runs properly.

Do I understand correctly that this is the cure to the problem you were having?

I wouldn't usually close the case like this and I'd try to dig deeper in order to find the root cause, but this is also an older Flight Simulator version.

Is this the DX10 fixer you're using?

had some free time open up and did a flight with the Lear, everything worked perfectly. GPS nav, Holding, trip computer, fuel computer, loading a hold, GPS approach, and VNAV. I didn't have any problems. Do you want me to try and turn on GPU buffer pools and see if that causes the problems?

This would be great indeed, so that we can isolate the root cause.

Going to be honest....no idea what's happening.

I set bufferpools back to GPU, undoing what i did this morning in Steve's DX10 fixer, and the GTN started up just fine?

As long as it is working 😄

Nevertheless, if this is happening again, please don't hesitate to amend this topic with new info.
