Help With GTN (resolved)

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I am using the flysimware Learjet 35 with the RXP GTN. I know it worked earlier in the year, but all of the sudden i am getting a black screen, and a GTN: failed to open simulation message in the rxpGTN.gau file. I've attempted to do the debug addition, it looks like my debug file is finding a previous version of the GTN, and giving me no information.  rxpGTNsim.dll file reads "rxpGtnSim32.dll version 2.5.26.0"

Here's some things i have tried:

Always kept the GTN updated

Uninstall and reinstall - Disabled file checker and added all RXP files to antivirus exclusion

Check Garmin Trainer Version (3.0.1.0) - Also installed all avionics emulators, and verified the exe is being run by the discrete graphics

Any Ideas of what to do from here?

Is it possible that the Trainer files got quarantined by your anti virus?

all instances of rxpgtnsim32 are excluded from anti virus

I also just spent the last 30 minutes uninstalling and reinstalling the garmin aviation trainers

Any ideas on how to prevent that from happening?

Unless you also tell us what anti-virus you are using, it will be difficult looking for you online for the anti-virus user's manuals and knowledge based articles.

Have you tried searching online with the following keywords: "how to exclude a file [name of your anti-virus]" ?

I please do not wish to start a brand allegiance argument here, but why pray tell are you using Mcaffee?  Windows Defender is as or more effective, less intrusive, reportedly consumes less live resources, and it does not require a paid subscription.  I have used Defender since late 2015 and augment it with Malware Bytes Premium particularly for added malicious software and ransomware protection.  I believe in a couple of polls here and elsewhere over the past couple of years that combination has found predominant use with few side effects.  That said, there is still an occasional file that gets wrongly identified when the world virus database updates its virus file signatures.  So be certain you have found the correct settings location in your AV for creating an exception.

my computer is less than a year old and it came pre-installed. MacAfee usually doesn't give me any problems
