Black Screen (but sound working)

Featured Replies

I recently uninstalled and reinstalled FSX-SE, and have been slowly adding back all my add-ons.  I've had, and resolved, a few isues but today after trying to calibrtate my throttles (in Settings) my screen suddenly went black when a flight was initiated.  I tested this with different aircraft and different departure airports, and it is the same on all.  The main FS opening page and the settings pages are all there, as is everything else on my PC.  If I 'set up' a flight and select 'fly now' it goes through the 'Loading Scenery' routine, and loads the flight (I can hear the cockpit and engine sounds) but the screen is completely black.  Suggestions please?

I had the same issue.  Here is what worked for me:

Settings > Customize button > Graphics tab > Check the box: Preview DirectX 10

I have read that using 'Windowed" mode also gets rid of the black screen of death!

Just going to run a Chromebook and not upgrade to a Windows computer. Too many problems with the new Sims! 😱

Thanks for the suggestions.  I've sorted it, for now, by reducing my graphics resolution.  I've looked at my fsx.cfg file and see nothin g untoward there.  I'm defragging and may remove one or two add-ons that I rarely usae anyway.
