MSFS freezes when enabling VR. Oculus Quest 2 wireless

Featured Replies

I like to set up the flight on my monitor, then enable VR once I'm past the "ready to fly" screen. However, without fail the game will firstly remain on the "desktop view", with a pseudo-pancake monitor in VR projected in front of me and the game showing the two images. Moreover, the game will flash back and forth between the same two viewpoints a dozen times per second (more or less half the framerate) on that pancake monitor view. From here the game is frozen. In fact I can interact with things (I hear the brakes if I enable/disable the parking brake), but the visuals are frozen, continuously and quickly flashing between the two viewpoints.

I've had nothing but frustration with MSFS in VR. I got it working wired a couple times with the OQ2 and was genuinely amazed. I got it working wireless once a few weeks ago but not since. It seems like the most fragile, bug-ridden system since beta MSDOS games.

I could be wrong, since I don't have an oculus quest , but I suspect the issues you are having have more to do with the quest than it does with the SIM

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

If you are using the Steam version of OpenXR (what it's sounding like), I think you need to keep SteamVR closed when you start MSFS, and let the game open it once you toggle VR in game. Otherwise you'll get the 2d flat-screen view instead of steroscopic VR. I believe this affects virtual desktop too.
