January 5, 200719 yr Although I hate to admit it, I sometimes crash on landing due to a tall tree or building. In fs9 this could at least be somewhat rewarding by displaying some cool crash effects. I can't recall now whether these were activated by default in some planes or whether I had to manually add "visual_damage=1" to the aircraft.cfg for each livery. In any event, these crash effects either were already there or could be added.FSX doesn't appear to have these crash effects for the default planes, although I've not tried them all. I tried adding "visual_damage=1" to the aircraft.cfg of some default planes and it had no effect. Indeed, the only crash-like effect I've encountered so far is the great spark display you get when you make an emergency landing with a float plane on a concrete runway. There may be others that I've not found yet. But when it comes to just hitting a building or tree - or nose-diving on landing - there doesn't seem to be anything. Just a resetting of the sim.Am I correct in my assumption that crash effects are no longer a part of FSX? Alternatively, has anyone come up with a cfg line that activates them if they're there but not activated? Thanks, Robert Robert Chartoff
January 5, 200719 yr If I remember correctly, the crash effects have been disabled in FSX. I believe someone from ACES answered a question about this some months ago, and that was their answer.I have seen some effects, such as smoke and stuff when I have crashed though.Klas Klas Member of AVSIM's Around the World Race Team
January 5, 200719 yr Author I am sure that in time there will be add-ons that give wild crash effects, using the Effects SDK. There was "MAssive Crash" for FS2004, for example.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2310 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 2.5-3-3-8 (1T), WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian case Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
