April 20, 20215 yr I hope someone can help me get rid of the black backgrounds I'm getting behind all titles, messages, ATC, POIs, etc. Messages now appear in white characters on a black rectangle. I believe this started just a short time ago. Before that, headings and messages were black characters on a clear background. That's what I want to bring back... I've tried different General and Assistance settings, but haven't been able to return to the original. Is a black rectangle behind messages now the standard in MSFS? If not, can you help me get back to the original background?... Many thanks in advance for all suggestions... Lee Graves

Lee Graves I didn't get any responses to my original post, so perhaps I'm the only MSFS user with the black rectangles. They;re distracting, but I can certainly live with it and continue to enjoy MSFS. I wish users would let me know: Are you getting these black backgrounds behind ATC, POIs, and other messages?...Thanks, again... Lee Graves

I think it is the Opacity settings, but can't remember. Originally it was a very light grey, with white letters is the default. The setting is in there, I just can't remember where I changes it recently and I don't have access to the sim right now! Are you talking about the Tags above airports or POI's, or peoples names in MP? That is what I am talking about! You can also change the background colors too. But think that is a different setting? I'll look later. Screenshot would help though? I have to leave and will be back later to look after you post a screenshot! I had a high Opacity (90) setting, but reducing it only made the black backgrounds lighter... Lee I actually found it by mistake one day. Launching sim to try and locate the setting again! April 21, 20215 yr This is what mine originally looked like. I don't ever remember Black Text on the very light grey background. Unless there is another setting I am not aware of? I don't use ATC so I have no clue! But I think this is deafult! I have mine set to completely BLACK background now, and WHITE letters! So I set my Opacity to 90! There could be other settings I am not aware of? Like I said, I don't ever remember BLACK letters? With a little more recent flying time, I have come to prefer ATC with a black background. Setting Opacity at a modest number (50+/-) only slightly reduces the tag backgrounds, but a black ATC background requires a 90. Everything considered, that's where I'm setting Opacity... Perhaps I'm mistaken about black characters on a gray background in MSFS' beginning. If anyone thinks it was that way, I wish they would tell me here... Additional thoughts and suggestions still welcomed... Lee
