  1. Thanks Glynn. It looks very promising...And, even a video...I love it!...I'll get into it tonight, when I get home...Looking forward to it... Lee
  2. I looked through hundreds of returns from my search question, none of which seemed to supply much help. Can someone suggest a free airliner (or, more?) they have downloaded that included a really competent FMC? Many thanks for any suggestions... Lee
  3. Thanks charliearon, for the guage. I wonder if you know how to bring up the throttle quadrant in 2D, and if there is a way to enlarge the three display screens on the 2D captain's panel. I've looked all over for some kind of operations manual, or readme text, and also visited the site given for Product Support, but could find no help. Any suggestions you, or others, might have are most appreciated. Thanks again. Lee
  4. Thanks charliearon for the Citation X link, but after downloading the file I could not locate the Honeywell FMC gauge. The creator refers to it in his fmc readme text, but I couldn't find it among the aircraft files. Can someone point me to it?...Many thanks, in advance. Lee
  5. Many thanks, again, for all the helpful advice--it's like an extension of the tutorials... And, Alexander, I want to thank you for including your fine MD-11 video. Is there a way to enlarge the picture? I couldn't find the usual YouTube enlarger hot spot, and I would like to better-read the input on the FMC screen...There is also a lot of other useful info in the video, which I find helpful...The MD-11's FMC seems more unique and different than some of the others I've gotten familiar with. But, I'm steadily learning what it takes to get it to perform as desired...It's a great airplane and fun to learn to operate it correctly...Thanks, again... Lee
  6. Many thanks for all the great advice...I had already finished the Basic Tutorial and am well into the Advanced. I expected the take-off speed to be higher than it was, and understand now why and how that speed was determined. The tutorials are excellent teaching tools, and as I get more familiar with the MD-11's systems and procedures, the more I respect and enjoy the airplane...That seems to be unanimous among the contributors here...Thanks again... Lee
  7. I searched for an answer (and didn't find one) and I'm probably overlooking something obvious, but I cannot find a way to increase my airspeed for take-off. I have not pushed the Auto Flight button, but the speed on the PFD shows 178, in maroon, and pushing the FMS SPD button, or the button to change the airspeed, has no effect. All the other numbers with respect to heading and altitude are white and can be changed by right or left-clicking on those buttons. The problem here, of course, is it takes a LONG time to get the MD-11 up to Rotate speed at 178 kts and the runway is disappearing quickly! (It must give people in those cars and trucks running along the roadway at the end of the runway some nervous moments.)...Anyway, can someone tell me how, if the aircraft systems will allow it, to increase my take-off speed to something above 200 kts?...You can tell, I'm still learning to fly this beautiful aircraft...Thanks in advance for any help... Lee
  8. Rick--Was my long post about Flight Plan Converter 213 helpful in getting it to work for you? The second time I expanded the zip and got the program started, everything seemed to fall into place. I hope you had a similar experience. I also run Win 7 64 bit and keep my UAC setting at the bottom of the scale...Let me know if I can help...Again, my thanks to Wayne and the others who contributed suggestions... Lee
  9. Wayne--Thanks for the quick comeback...I apologize at the beginning for the length of this post--I thought some Forum users might be spared the time and frustration I experienced, if presented with the step-by-step FP conversion plan that worked for me. Readers with no interest, please skip the rest of this post... I had a similar experience to what you described. I could not get things to work properly the first time I tried using FPC 213. However, when I closed the program and re-started it, it seemed to function as you would expect. I opened the fpncnv213.zip file and placed its contents in a new file I called Flight Plan Converter 213. Within the file, I opened FpnConv2.exe. That produced the Initial Setting Screen. I entered the paths to the FSX Main Folder and the FSX Flightplan Folder. I put a check in the "PMDG" and the "into PMDG folder" boxes, and clicked "OK." That screen closed. When I looked in the FPC 213 folder, a file had been created called, "FsConv.ini." Next, I again opened the FpnConv2.exe file, and that brought up the Flight plan Converter screen. I clicked on the "Flight plan open" button, which brought up my FSX flight plans. I selected the FSX .pln FP I wanted to convert to a .rte FP and hit the Open button. Now, the Flight Plan Converter screen had its blank windows filled with info from the FSX FP I had opened. I hit the "Ftpln SAVE" button and that then led me to open the FSX\PMDG\FLIGHTPLANS folder, with the editable name of the new .rte at the bottom of the screen. I gave it an 11-character name (to be used in the MD-11 FMC) and hit the "Save" button. I now had the new .rte file located in the FSX\PMDG\FLIGHTPLANS folder, with an appropriate name ready to be typed into the MD-11 FMC. I went to MD-11, brought up the FMC, entered the 11-character name in the Init screen and--IT WAS ACCEPTED. The new flight plan was just like the .pln FP from FSX. I hope all of this is of some help to those trying to convert FSX FPs for use in PMDG aircraft. Lee
  10. Wayne--I downloaded and converted a couple of .pln files to .rte, but I have to admit, search as I might, I cannot locate those new .rte files... I indicated on the first screen to send the new .rte file to "PMDG" and "Into the PMDG Folder," but when i looked in the Flight Simulator X\PMDG\FLIGHTPLANS file it was not there. I also looked throughout the "FSX\PMDG" file--not there either. Of course, I've looked many other places, too, with no success...Please tell me, exactly WHERE are the new .rte files located??? By the way, I always keep the UAC setting at the bottom of the scale; and, checking the folder where I placed the opened fpncnv213.zip file, I see a new FsConv.ini file was created each time I tried a conversion. I also deleted that last FsConv.ini file before creating a new conversion (as per the readme.txt file)...Can you point me to where these converted .rte files are sitting?...Many thanks for linking me to Flight Plan Converter 213, and a lot more after I get the MD-11 FMC to accept the new converted .rte files...(LOL)... Lee
  11. Thanks very much for all the suggestions and advice. I really appreciate them...I'm trying them now and will let you know the results a little later... Lee
  12. I tried to search for a past post that dealt with this subject, but got no answer. I hope someone can give me a step-by-step procedure to convert FSX .pln files to .rte files that will be accepted in the MD-11 FMC...Thanks in advance for any assistance... Lee
  13. I missed something I guess, because I cannot, try as I may, get any marker beacon indication on my MD-11 aircraft while making an ILS approach. I did not find a direct reference in the operation manual, so i hope someone here in the Forum will show me how to activate the MBs, including the audio, when flying over them. Thanks in advance for any assistance... Lee
  14. I know this is a long-shot, but thought I would try anyway...Does anyone here know of a way to get the terrific AI-viewing program Traffic View Board to operate in FSX? If you have used this free addon in FS9 you know it's like watching a real-time movie of the AI traffic within a 64 nm radius of your current location, including the ATC communication with the aircraft you select. I've searched the different FSX libraries, with no success, but was hopeful some creative TVB user here might have figured out a work-around that enables its use in FSX...Thanks... Lee
  15. I hope this ProATC discussion thread hadn't dyed out. Looking forward to reading more of what Al, Jim and others have discovered while wringing-out the program. I bought it after reading many pro and con comments in this thread, and am still enjoying getting acqainted with its features...Would like to know other's discoveries, or criticisms, if they wouldn't mind sharing them...Thanks, Lee
