January 6, 200719 yr To All, Seems to have gone unnoticed...Megascenery has released their first FSX product with 1M resolution. Visit http://www.megascenery.com/megasceneryxdisc.htm for more information.I just purchased it and it's pretty darn good. Best of all, the new FSX file format doesn't require hundreds of thousands of tiny files on your hard drive = much faster load times. I have not noticed any framerate hit but your mileage may vary as I have a pretty high end system. Finally - some nice US scenery in FSX!EGCore2Duo @ 3.2Ghz150GB WD RAPTOR4GB RAMGeforce 8800GTX
January 6, 200719 yr Thanks for the heads up! I just got the Georender Yellowstone which likewise is truly amazing. I think this is really the future for FS-with resolution at this detail-and I can turn autogen all the way up and still get great performance. We just need huge drives now-or a way to get it off the internet live in real time....Those megascenery compares sure show the improvements fsx has.http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
January 7, 200719 yr Throwing in a few pics here!I'm amazed, truly amazed! Excellent photo-scenery with unbelievable clarity; looks very three dimensional, and has NO hit on frame rates. In fact, as I usually have water effects OFF, and set the effects midway for the second pass around the island, and was still getting around 25 fps of very smooth flight nearly all the time. Lowest was 15 fps for short durations when panning madly, and it still seemed smooth! This product shows exactly what FSX is capable of with it's high resolution texture capability. MegaScenery is NO longer the look of flying over a photograph at high altitudes for a reasonable look. It's the closest yet, to being there on a desktop CPU!Very impressive!http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/164694.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/164695.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/164696.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/164697.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/164698.jpg
January 7, 200719 yr Yep-I got it too and it is magnificent! Turned up all my water too-still good performance.http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
January 7, 200719 yr I got it and it's really good but it blurs a lot for me. I get little to no blurries with standard fsx scenery but this stuff hardly ever seems to come in sharp for me. *shrug* Well worth the price though as when it's clear it is almost photoreal.
January 7, 200719 yr Did you allow the install program to change your settings?I did and I regret it-it reset my fiber frame rate way down to a low number, and a few others I had that allowed me to keep sharp photo real. I am resetting them as we speak...have a feeling that is the problem.Edit-yes turning my fiber frame rate back up took care of it...http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

I am resetting them as we speak...have a>feeling that is the problem. For some reason, the program didn't auto install into my FSX folder. I installed the scenery manually, and never saw options to change settings. It's actually one of the clearest scenery areas that I have. I still haven't made any tweaks either.BTW--- Try putting autogen to dense. It lays well on this scenery, but looks hideous & very cartoon like! This type of scenery shows why autogen should stay OFF in FSX! At least in scenery areas such as this.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/164707.jpg

I don't see that it changed any fiber settings for me as it is still at .33 which is where i had it. Would you mind telling me what settings you changed afterwards so i can make sure i caught them all? Thanks.
January 7, 200719 yr I agree-the autogen ruins it! Interestingly though-the Georender Yellowstone scenery looks great with full autogen-and I get 25-30 fps with it all the way to the right. Another not to be missed scenery. I am also running the fs9 Teton scenery which also looks great-but the new fsx scenery just adds much more oomph! :-)This photo scenery just makes it as real as it can get! :-)http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
January 7, 200719 yr I'm still working at it but I had my fiber frame at .44. The higher setting your system can take-the less blurries and the more photo sharp...http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

I'll be a "sucker" for all this stuff! :) Will have to get it tomorrow, and will crank the auto-gen up. I do in other lower level mountainous areas anyway.......for the trees! :-hah L.Adamson
January 7, 200719 yr You will just have to suffer with the likes of this-puts the Pro Pilot days in perspective!-with fsdiscover telling what it all is (another fantastic program I can't live without..).http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/164716.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
January 7, 200719 yr I was really hoping this would turn me off of buying any FSX add-ons.. Its beautiful! Now I am going to have to buy the Georender stuff.. Man!
January 7, 200719 yr Oh nice! This pretty much looks the same than what I got from my realtime terrain streaming project. So excuse me, I'll go flying on the other Hawaiian islands. Ha! ;)Okay to be fair: my project doesn't properly do coastlines yet and the loading performance is even below poor.here's the link for those who dare to compare: http://www.flickr.com/photos/cbuchner1/set...57594407535533/and no, my stuff is not available for download. So you better buy this MegaScenery OAHU package if you like this kind of graphics. ;)Christian
January 7, 200719 yr Looks good! At least we have some good future possibilities for FSX, don't we!!! :7 L.Adamson
