I think you're making the right choice.

I see little difference between v4 and v5.  The only difference I noticed in those videos was that v5 has a lot more atmospheric haze, which is due to EA, the enhanced atmospherics; and EA has a number of problems from what I've read in these forums.

That haze to 300 ft. Agl can happen in v4 to. Get it in FSX if it's in the metar. Use ASN Live mode. Sometimes a dreary condition looks brighter in the sim than out my window though.
