May 14, 20215 yr Hi all- I was wondering if it's possible to fly IFR from a non ATC airport (KSEZ) to an ATC airport (KSFO) and have them 'pick you up' at your first waypoint. I tried this yesterday and didn't have much luck other than getting clearance to FL400. Thanks, Mark

After airborne, you contact them again with the normal "<CallSign> climbing to 6000 feet" or similar initial contact. After that, it's all the same as departing a controlled airport. VFR, you could request VFR Flight Following verbally after takeoff. Or wait until you get near your destination and use normal VFR Tower contacting procedures. Or call up Center and ask for vectors to an approach. If the latter, you must tell them what airport, not just what approach you want. Dave
