May 30, 20215 yr Hi guys i just did a flight from EGCC Manchester airport to get to runway 05R you need to back track i run make runways and imported all the changes after the last fs2020 update i had two things happen 1 there was a plane that p2a could see waiting to back track i could see it as a blue plane on the p2a map there was on instructions from p2a about this plane 2nd thing when i got to the back track point there was no in instruction for this so i am thinking the trigger for this is missing but looking on Taxi Mnt i am not sure where to start its looking like this as the min it also got me to taxi to the start of runway 23L where i think in real life you would taxi following the route that would put you on the runway at the mid point for the back track what would i need to do to get the back track to work properly? also is there away of running taxiway maintenance with out the rest of p2a running or is there a stand alone program i can use to edit the taxi ways Edited May 30, 20215 yr by Lestat11
May 30, 20215 yr Commercial Member It looks like you have imported the EGCC scenery from the SIM. I don't see the orange colored Hold-Short Taxi points right before the last green normal taxi point intersecting the runway in your screenshots. That is likely the problem. Below is EGCC 15R that does give you backtrack. TaxiMnt is built into P2A, so you need to run P2A to get to it. Dave
May 30, 20215 yr Author i did import the scenery looks like i would have been better not doing i had a look through the documents but cant see what the difference is to a hold short pin and hold short no draw also am i better using ils hold short or just hold short? update i reinstalled p2a and got all the old data back running taxi mnt selecting runway 5r as active and putting the plane at a gate when i ask for the taxi route it still shows a route to the start of rw 23 Edited May 30, 20215 yr by Lestat11
May 30, 20215 yr Author dont seam to be able to get my head around how taxi mnt works was trying to delete the old route and make a new one but p2a dose not want to follow it is there an easy way to reinstall the original data file i did not back the old one up if i reinstall p2a over the top of this install will it keep all my voice and controller settings?
May 30, 20215 yr Commercial Member Backup the AppSettings.xml file located at: c:\users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\P2A_200\Settings\AppSettings.xml Then do the full install. The settings should not be affected, but if they are, then you can copy the backup copy of AppSettings.xml to the Settings directory and they will be restored.
June 16, 20214 yr Just a question regarding the above picture: Quote Below is EGCC 15R that does give you backtrack. I see more than one holding point for 15R. Do I understand it right that this is not a fault and how do pilot and ATC handle these multiple holding points ? Do I have to request clearance on every holding point ? And it is not necessary to connect the taxi point on the runway entrance with a taxi point on the runway end (as I see simply the red line of the runway) ? In addition: It's stated that I shouldn't set a further taxi point between holding point and runway, but sometimes the holding position markings drawn on the ground are not straight from the runway entrance (e.g. taxiway like a "U" with holding point on the upper right side and runway entrance on the upper left side). Can I set two holding points for such an entrance, one on the drawn holding position markings, then some taxipoints, then a last holding point before the runway ? And what would ATC do ? Ignore the additional holding point ? Or request clearance on both ? Or isn't this the correct solution at all (on the photos in the user guide, the hold short points are mostly after the holding position markings, just before the runway) ?
June 16, 20214 yr Commercial Member All taxiways that enter/cross a runway should have a hold short point just before the taxiway. Remember, these taxiway definitions are only for determining routes and so don't have to look "pretty" or be curved, etc. In most cases, the default data is adequate for taxi directions. Usually the only changes needed are to rename taxiways. If you need to do airport definition maintenance, you should use the tool designed for the SIM you are using. WED for X-Plane or AFCAD Editor/Creator for FSX/P3D and I believe MSFS. You can then import the resulting Airport definition. Dave Edited June 16, 20214 yr by Dave-Pilot2ATC
June 20, 20214 yr In my environment, many airport taxiways are incomplete (missing taxiway pieces). I had these "incomplete taxiways" before, while modifying airports years ago with the ADE tool and found hints that this results from a nonstandard mesh (Pilot's Ultimate). So I have to check and optionally rework them. I take your advice not to make them pretty - eases my work. And check if they have a hold short point before every crossing of the runways. Thanks for the info.
June 21, 20214 yr Author back once again i have renamed the taxiways to match the charts and have added the hold short points but no matter what i do if taxiing to rw05r it all ways directs me to rw23l then all the way down the runway and ignores the turn around at the end i also think you would be directed down taxiway V and enter the runway mid way down link to the airport save https://drive.google.com/file/d/18S1Pfv4tOXetj6b_VbK-x6zfOWAU_fLI/view?usp=sharing if any one can see where i am going wrong or if the program is just not capable of this please let me know
June 21, 20214 yr Commercial Member I believe all the taxi points between your hold short points and the runway are probably the problem. When I load your taxiway definitions, it does take me to 23L. With the default definition: I get routed correctly: Edited June 21, 20214 yr by Dave-Pilot2ATC
June 21, 20214 yr Author I imported the taxi ways and changed the name to the correct ones Do you think it would be better if I did the taxi ways from scratch and exact to the charts (am using navigraph ones) I would use less points as like you say it dose not need to be pretty Or just have a few taxi ways in like the default setting but with the correct names Edited June 21, 20214 yr by Lestat11
June 21, 20214 yr Commercial Member I would just change the names to the correct names and leave the layout that works alone. Dave
June 27, 20214 yr Author is there a quick way to delete all the taxiways for EGCC in taxi mnt would like to try and do the taxiways from scratch for EGCC or is there a standalone program that would be better from completely redoing the taxiways that i could then inport to taxi mnt i know above AFCAD Editor/Creator is talked about but i dont want to edit the airport just the taxiways Quick edit I have changed all the taxi ways on EGCC to correctly Match the charts and every thing is working Correctly Inside taxi maintenance have not yet tried it in the SIM Dave are you interested in adding corrected taxiways into the default database so everyone can use if not does anyone have a suggestion wet upload the file so other the people can use it I am quite new to aviation and reading the charts so I may have got this wrong but the chart below where I have circled is that additional hold short points for access to the run way to stack plains if they are can I add them to taxi mnt and would they just be the hold shot points or something else would I also need to name them the same a1, a2 this is just incase the airport is busy with ai and multilayer planes am not sure if p2a can do stacking or not hope that all makes sense Edited June 27, 20214 yr by Lestat11 More information
June 30, 20214 yr Commercial Member P2A does not do stacking. For taxi instructions purposes, hold short points should all be right before the runway taxi point for the taxiway. ILS Hold Shorts, if included, should be right before the regular Hold Short. Those extra hold shorts in your diagram could be ILS Hold Short points and would not be used by P2A. Thanks for offering the updated definitions, but due to potential licensing issues, we don't include updated taxiway definitions from users because we cannot verify the original source of the data, which could be protected. Again, the best way to get something that works is to just modify the default data to get the names right, or import the SIM data and make minor modifications or name changes.
July 1, 20214 yr Author Thanks Dave for your time i did find editing the original file a lot easer the make runways edition seams to just have two many ways points and it looks nice but seams to confuse p2a or there are broken routes that are just two hard to find
