Trying to Edit Crossing Restriction and P3Dv5.2 crashes

Featured Replies

Hey all,

Just bought the FMS for my Lear and I am very excited. I did two consecutive test flights now where I've received a "Descend to cross xxx at FLxxx" instruction given and when I go to plug the altitude into the FMS, it locks up the sim momentarily and then it crashes to the desktop. Nothing in the event viewer and it only happens when I go to edit the altitude for a given procedure using the RSK.

Any ideas?

Thank you in advance.

Evan

Edit: I understand the VNAV function is advisory only, and carries no purpose otherwise. I'm really just using it as a memory aid.

Hi Evan,

What is RSK? And it is not clear to me on what FMS page/screen you are trying to make an altitude edit.

And as a side note, if you haven't already you should disable the Milviz WX Radar as it is incompatible with P3Dv5.2. To do this go in to the P3Dv5.2 gauges folder and rename the MV_WX.dll file to something like MV_WX_BkUp.dll.

Hey Al,

Thanks for your quick response. I don't own the weather radar, but I cannot wait until it is compatible so I can grab it as well!

I'm on the FPL page and the key(s) I was referring to were the Line Select Keys on the right side. Sorry for the confusion - I didn't articulate that well. Seems to be LSK R1+R2. I can duplicate the problem every time.

Thank you again.

I don't see how to enter target altitudes on the FPL page -- will try to find out if that has been implemented or not.

Regarding the Milviz WX radar, Milviz has said they may not update it for P3Dv5.2, so that is something to check before buying it. It does work in P3Dv5.1.

I spoke with the developer who is doing the FMS coding. Currently you cannot enter altitudes on the FPL page. However, you should be able to do so on the VNAV page and he will check on that. He is also looking into the possibility of having the altitudes entered on the VNAV page automatically transfer to the FPL page for convenient reference, and as a minimum plans to disable the right side Line Select Keys on the FPL page so they do not cause a CTD if an attempt is made to enter altitudes there.

That's the best I can tell you at the moment.

With the just out FMS Beta ver 1.4, altitudes entered for waypoints on the VNAV page do show up on the FPL page. Note however you cannot edit altitudes from the FPL page.
