FSX Add On activation

Featured Replies

Hey Guys

I'm new here...This may already be on the forum , and I'm sorry if I'm in the wrong area

 I have a problem with FSX..yea who doesn't right ?

Of the many add ons I have installed and verified the files are where they are supposed to be.. Add On Scenery

but when I try to activate them within the Sim,,, I click down to the scenery folder...blank,, nothing

This has been driving me crazy... I have had these working before and its not just this add on.. it's same with others too.

Win10 64 pro, FSXw/Accel..

I have moved your topic into the FSX forum.  If I understand correctly......you place the new scenery folder in the Addon Scenery folder, then, while in the Sim, you go to the Scenery Library and try to add the scenery and you're saying the folder is empty??

Got a link to that package.  I don't have a Sim on my computer, but I can still take a look at why your folder is empty. I was just looking around at Flyawaysimulations and was looking at one of their Caribbean Sea Plane tours package.  I saw this in their list of instructions:

5. THIS IS WHERE MOST MISTAKES WERE MADE. Copy the contents of the “scenery” folder and the “textures” folder to your “Add on scenery/Scenery and Add on scenery/textures folders respectively. DO NOT COPY THEM TO YOUR MAIN FSX “SCENERY” AND “TEXTURES” folders or the scenery will not show up.

I do remember seeing that ... So I verified that all files ARE where they are supposed to be.

Like I said, I have had this running.. if the eye candy it wasn't worth it... but I remember It was a pain to install last time too..

Good Morning

Well here is what I've done

Complete uninstall of FSX...everything, dumped it ALL addons, sceneries, runways, pilot logs, ETC.

Acceleration also.. verified on a reboot that everything was gone...

Fresh install of FSX and Accel...went through the registry nonsense to get them both activated..

Installed the Caribbean package,,,,rebooted.... the folders are still empty when I attempt to activate them within the game..  this is what should be showing..

"Installation: If your reading this, the files are installed….but, you will need to activate the files in FSX! Order is important"……
Activate the folders in this order…..

    1. Key West
    2.  Mooney Harbor
    3.  Key West Docks
    4.  Fort Jefferson
    5.  Marathon Key
    6.  Havana
    7.  Holiday Isle
    8.  Ocean Reef Club
    9.  Bimini
    10.  Miami
    11.  Disney
    12.  St. Augustine
    13.  Coco Beach
After activation, your “Scenery Settings Screen” should appear like the one above

That’s it……for installation

My last thought would be to contact the developer with your installation problem.
