Anyone know how to remove default F1-F4 key commands?

Featured Replies

I have a throttle controller, so I have no need of the F1-F4 throttle keyboard commands. As such, I have created a custom keyboard map in the control settings that removes the default F1-F4 commands, and applies my own command instead.

My problem is that even with the F1 - F4 key bindings removed from my custom settings, the throttle commands still activate when I use the keys. For example, I have F1 set to my desired function. I have verified that my function is the ONLY thing linked to the F1 key with my custom keyboard command setting. But when I select F1, my function does work, but the throttle still cuts to idle. Same with F4. My desired and mapped function does work, but the throttles still advance to full power, even though the throttle mapping to F4 has been removed from my custom map.

It appears that the program is still looking at the default keyboard bindings, even though my custom keyboard bindings are active. How can I stop the program from recognizing the default commands, if they continue to function even after being removed through the custom settings page?

Make sure your newly defined key bindings are the loaded configuration under options.  It sounds like the default loaded and not your newly defined bindings.

Hi. Are you referring to the "Controller Options" section, or is there another area in Options that defines it? When I open the Controller Options section, Default Keyboard is displayed initially, but it quickly changes to my custom keyboard without being prompted, so I am presuming that it is active. Plus the new mapped function does work, so again it would seem to indicate that it is looking at the custom command set.

Ok, if you see the custom keyboard it likely is active and we have to troubleshoot other potentials. After the default changes to the custom, do you see the "save" settings button.  If so try clicking that.

Yes, but just to be sure I went back in, made another random change to the keyboard mapping, which prompted the "F11 - Apply and Save". I did both ways, I clicked on the text, and I selected F11. Neither time had any effect. I went back and checked each time and the throttles still respond to the F1 and F4 keys.

This is using the PMDG DC-6 by the way. I have read through their documentation, and I do not believe that they have any dedicated key strokes driven by the product.
