P3d v4 World Scenery Add In

Featured Replies

I am trying to add an airport mod to my P3d v4 setup. I normally use Lorby to add simple sceneries that have just a scenery and texture subfolders. Works fine with whatever I had in FSX.

However, this one has an ADX file that was intended to go in World Scenery in FSX.

Can I just drop that ADX in copy paste in P3d v4 and it will use it?

Thanks

Have done it successfully with others but they were just simple files. Two bgls. I have read about successful Sunskyjet PHL installed to version 4 and 5. Remember, the scenery in P3D is largely FSX.

Best thing you can do is trial and error...
You're gonna have a hard time finding support for these matters as not many people install FSX airports into P3D (but that doesn't mean there are none)

I've tried it in the past, had bunch of scenery errors and taxiways not showing up correctly. Not trying it a second time 🙃

I've got a bunch of FSX sceneries installed into P3Dv4 (and fewer in P3Dv5).  Some are effortlessly compatible, some take a bit of work with ADE, like setting the taxiway draw flags that FSX ignored so that taxiways appear as they should, or using ModelConverterX to update models for P3Dv4 compatibility, and some are hopelessly incompatible.

ADX file?  Do you mean ADEX?  Most of what gets installed in scenery\world\scenery in FSX and P3D versions through v4 are either elevation correction or airport deletion stubs.  And since the base scenery for FSX and P3D versions through v4 are essentially the same, a stub designed for FSX will usually work in P3Dv4 as well.

Why not just try it out?  If it comes up wonky, it's a simple matter to go back and delete it.

One thing I appreciate about P3D is the repair option. Hard to break it bad.
