July 8, 20214 yr In MCE, when setting it up, I used my Microsoft Sidewinder joystick and one of its buttons to use with ATC. I use PF3 for ATC. I did pick that as my ATC program. It accepted my assignment and showed the button number. However, the next time I started up MCE, it now shows my ATC talk key as a button assigned to My Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog Throttle quadrant, which I use for my combat flight simulations in DCS. How come it switched to there? Also, it won't let me change it. Another question I have is when I fly, I have PF3 open, and EFB V2. Does MCE consider those open programs and go into dialogue mode, preventing me from talking to ATC in PF3? If force it to switch to the other mode, with those two programs open, will it keep it there, and let me talk to ATC? Greg Goodavish

Run the "app wizard" briefly, without going through speech training. Windows Start->Multi Crew Experience->run app wizard. When you get to the PTT button selection screen, assuming the wizard filtered out all the buttons that are "always ON", you should only see a specific button displayed when you select it. Once you're done with the wizard, go to C:\Usesrs\your_user_name\AppData\Roaming\Multi Crew Experience\ folder, open "mce.ini" and look at the [GAMEPAD] section. It should list the exact joystick and button number you have selected and won't change until you assign a new one or restoe MCE to factory settings. If there are no entries in the ini file, it could be a folder permission issue, with wizard being denied the right to edit the file, which can happen when one overrrides C:\Users\ folder's permissions. Regarding DIALOG mode... Not aware EFB V2 was causing this. PF3 definitely doesn't. I am assuming you're using MCE with P3D. Try this workaround. Go to \Prepar3D v4ORv5\ installation folder and open "fsInsider.ini" under [OPTIONS] section, ensure.... July 10, 20214 yr Author OK, I did that, and all seems to work OK now. However, today I flew online with VATSIM, and they no longer hear me with my microphone. I noticed since installing MCE that whenever I start up P3D, I get a box that pops up showing it doing something with my microphone settings. Could this be interfering with being able to use my mic on VATSIM with VPilot? Greg Goodavish

The box that pops-up on sim start (only once a day) is to make sure the Windows 10 feature which by default automatically attenuates the volume of applications it deems are background tasks is set to "Do nothing". Otherwise, may occasionally experience MCE, Pilot2Atc, Radar Contact, PF3 or other apps volume dropping when you are communicating online. For Vatsim, make sure the "Talk to ATC controllers" feature is enabled in General tab of the MCE UI, go to <ATC> tab and click the '+' arrow at the bottom as many times as necessary until you get to "Other ATC". Click <Activate> to switch to that mode and restart MCE. From then on, MCE will assume you're using some other ATC system and will suspend all speech reco while DELETE key or PTT switch is down.
