July 11, 20214 yr Following up, here, on my Cessna 140 (wheeled version), please see my earlier post, I note, that Aeroplane Heaven (AH), in their nice C140 package, have also included a floatplane model of this Classic Cessna. So, find below, a collection of pictures: first a few shots of the Float C140 lifting off the (fjord) waters of the Norwegian Sea, and, next, sample images from an extremely scenic Nordic airport, Narvik, Framnes, (ENNK), and its vicinity. The airport, however, is now permanently closed (since April 1, 2017). The closure was attributed to the construction of the new Hålogaland bridge, which opened December 2018, and shortened the journey to the larger (and nearby) Harstad-Narvik Airport (ENEV), making ENEV the primary airport for this region, and thereby eliminating the use of Narvik airport (ENNK). For sure, the decision (to close) must have been a hard and a painful one, for the locals of Narvik, been forced to choose between the new bridge (roadway) and the old airport (airway), but not both...and the (new) bridge won...! I've included several screenshots of the Hålogaland bridge, below. The design and construction of this landmark structure is considered a remarkable and innovative example of suspension bridge and cable engineering, especially because of its location in the extreme environment, north of the Arctic Circle. Plus, the bridge also mandated the construction of two tunnels, on either end of this bridge. I've included images of the massive and impressive cable towers, from each end of the bridge, and, a close-up shot of the tower, at the Narvik side of the bridge, where one can see the vehicles spilling out of the tunnel, onto the bridge-way. And, regarding this floatplane, the AH manual urges, "Now before you do much else, drop the water rudders...", which I duly and promptly did. Please see my closeup (interior) shot, of the seat underneath, showing, together, the water rudder ring, the flap handle, the fuel selector, and the elevator trim wheel. And, AH, being extra supportive, to the simmers, has also stated, "We have added a young lady passenger to mix things up a little..."...oh well....it doesn't hurt...but, as typically seen in our virtual a/c, the Pilot sunglasses, here, seem to be off, though...🙂...(please see close-up shot)... More seriously, this Nordic region is surrounded by picturesque mountains, some reaching over 5,500 ft, and, here, around Narvik, stunningly towering above the little town, reaching high up into the sky, and, also, simultaneously, dipping into the Arctic sea waters...(see images below)...! IMO, this scenery add-on, from Orbx, is one of their best hand-crafted (small) airport, with impressive details and textures. Orbx also says, "Unique full seasonal variations", which, indeed, can be seen below, where I've included impressions from Spring and Winter seasons, in my images (see e.g. the last 2 images, for Winter). Finally, now that the ENNK Airport is decommissioned and the control tower has gone silent (see one close-up shot of the Tower building, which, btw, looks more like a country farm-house), I now wish to make this airport and the town, my own summer (or maybe winter) resort...🙂...of course, (virtual) excursionists, from around here, are always welcome...just, don't ask for clearance from the tower, when you get there,...so, see you...! Hope you enjoy the pictures below, of this beautiful place, on Earth...!! Good flying...!! [AH (C140/Float), Orbx (ENNK/Norway/BOB), REX]
