P3D Crash With PMDG737

Featured Replies

Hi folks! I am a new guy in here, with the PMDG 737 NGXu (I love the B737NG so much!) and P3D v4.5. I fly in India, with an Indian airline. Recently, I had added some suspicious scenery to my flight sim, (which probably wasn't a popular scenery, and was made for FSX only). As I installed it, and started flying, I started having Crash to Desktops.

Each and every CTDs, occured when I was descending through FL180 to FL150, and at the same geographical waypoint i guess. Can the culprit be the suspicious scenery? I made P3D make a new scenery.cfg and deactivated the old one. Guess what, no crashes. But with the old scenery.cfg it crashes again. So what should I do now. I do not want to lose those beautiful sceneries from IVAO. Maybe I will try removing that incompatible regional scenery (it was not an airport scenery).

Okay, so I deleted that specific suspicious scenery, but I still get crashes, (sometimes). (I do not want to loose those beautiful sceneries)

Event viewer states:

Prepar3D.exe
      4.5.11.29713

      unknown

(Here c0000005 error states that there is something to do with memory access violation)

Application: Prepar3D.exe Framework Version: v4.0.30319 Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception. Exception Info: exception code c0000005, exception address 0000000000000000

Can anyone of you please help me?

@aviation_geek97, welcome to AvSim. We discourage adding to very old topics so I have moved yours to a new topic.

FSX sceneries built with FS9 and earlier compilers can crash P3D.  Corrupt textures--on sceneries and on AI acft can also.  The good news is that the crash is repeatable, so you have a good chance of isolating the problem.

You can turn off all AI, and if the crash is still occurring, it's more than likely scenery.  Then it's a drill of disabling the suspect sceneries one or a few at a time.  There's a very useful free utility called P3D Addon Organizer made by Lorby-SI that allows you to disable, enable and organize sceneries easily.

Once you know what's causing the problem, you may be able to update the old scenery object bgls to make them compatible with P3Dv4...there's a free program called ModelConverterX that allows you to recompile FS9/FSX scenery object bgls for P3Dv4.  It doesn't work on everything, but it does a pretty good job on most.

So you have something of a learning curve ahead to incorporate some important new tools (and another I highly recommend is Scruffyduck's Airport Design Editor).

Thank you so much for your replies! I isolated the problem. The problem was with an addon scenery. I came to know it caused crashes to other users as well!
