Disk Partitions Win10

Featured Replies

I have a 500GB SSD with two partitions D and G.  I have FSX on D and MSFS2020 on G.  There is unused space on the D partition which I would like to transfer to G as MSFS2020 is starting to fill up G.  I know there are several partition managers available as well as the windows disk management facility.  Is there a safe way to do this without messing up either FSX or MSFS2020.  For instance if I shrink D by say 50 GB how do I move this space to the G partition.

I am reluctant to experiment with this as I am afraid it will mess up either FSX or MSFS2020 or both.

Be grateful for some expert help.

Right click on the start menu and select disk management. right click on your D drive and select shrink volume. Shrink by 50 or 100 if possible and then it will create a new tab of that amount of space unallocated. Then go to G again right click and add the amount of unallocated space to your G drive. It will pull the space from the unallocated tab automatically. You now should have a larger drive G.

Thanks for that, you have pretty well confirmed what i had in mind.  Is this safe to do, I mean will the sims installed remain intact.

It should have no impact on the sims. If you have any vital data on the partitions I recommend making sure you have a backup of that, just in case.
