Recommendations to alleviate screen lag/tearing when panning

Featured Replies

Hello Gang!

After the SU5 hotfix I noticed the obvious performance gains but I've also noticed that when I pan my view around, there a little bit of screen lag or tearing (don't know what to call it) that occurrs.  Any idea how to alleviate that?  Maybe some setting you recommend I look at??

Thanks a bunch

Sincerely,

Dennis D. Müllert

Have you got VSync on. I have mine set to 60 V Sync ON even though I can only achieve around 40fps, I use track IR, if i turn V Sync OFF I get horrendous screen tearing when looking around the cockpit, setting it ON smooths it out dramatically.

Hey SimpleB.  Thanks for the quick response.  I have VSync turned off.  I will turn it on and see how it fares.

Hey SimpleB.  I followed your suggestion and the problem seems to have resolved itself.  Many Thanks.

No problem, glad it helped.

This started happening on my set up around 3 or 4 months ago and I never had VSync on prior to that and it was fine, i just used to use RTSS set to 40 to stabilise my framerate.

Setting framerate in RTSS only, does not have any impact on resolving tearing without VSync ON in the sim

Screen tearing has always been there before SU5, unless you are using vsync or a gsync monitor

At least in my case, it got smoother by increasing the refresh rate of the monitor to 144 Hz (it was 60 before). I am running the sim at 40-60 fps, on average. Vsync off.
