6 images of Airbus A300-600 (F/R)...

Featured Replies

Airbus A300 will always hold a special place in the history of aviation. First of all, it was the very first official Airbus aircraft built, and, therefore, was also the one, that set the first number of the Airbus identifier string to "3" (just as Boeing had settled on "7")...otherwise, who knows we might be now flying A120neo (or A520neo)...🙂...instead of A320neo...

On May 10, 1974, Airbus had delivered the world's first twin-engined wide-body commercial jetliner, the A300, to launch customer Air France, thus initiating the Airbus empire, as we know today. That would also mark the first ever delivery of an aircraft, designed, manufactured and marketed by the newborn and incumbent European plane-maker. At a time, when 3 or 4 engines were the norm for wide-body/long-haul jetliners, Airbus took the calculated risk of developing this two engined widebody aircraft. A300 delivered the returns....In 1977, the A300B4 became the world’s first ETOPS compliant aircraft to be permitted for extended flights over water. Boeing took cue from A300B4, and, four years later, another ETOPS pioneer would be born...the B767 prototype would fly for the first time, on September 26, 1981, and would go on to set the many other milestones of ETOPS regulations, for trans-atlantic travel...

So, it's worth saying, it was the A300 that started ETOPS with ETOPS-90 (for the first time, breaking through the barrier of the 60 minute rule), next, B767 solidified it (with ETPOS-120, ETOPS-180 etc.), and, then, B777/A330 (merely) carried the tradition forward...

Please find, below, six A300 (freeware) repaints, I caught today: first, 3 images of A300-600F (-600 freighter version), and, next, 3 images of A300-600R (-600 increased range version).

Enjoy...!
