I want to like the new in-game training system but…

Featured Replies

fbUkY0l.jpg…I couldn’t get through the first section of the first lesson.  It was asking me to translate cockpit views left, right, forward, backward etc. and nothing I did could get the system to move on.

It kept waiting for input. I change cockpit views using the hat switch on my yoke but that was not what she wanted apparently. I don’t appear to have any specific key strokes mapped to any of the ‘translate cockpit view’ commands.  Maybe that’s the problem.

And there isn’t any way to prompt the system to just move on to the next objective.

Frustrating!

It is designed to be used with an Xbox conttoller, not in legacy mode. Frustrating ....

In-game training system not designed for PC users too? I’m not sure I’m buying that.  Can anyone else confirm that? Is there a web link that spells that out?

I just tried it out... I was able to get through the first lesson, but for views I had to use the keyboard or the mouse. I don't remember seeing that many view options to pass though, are you on the very first lesson? It had me look around the aircraft and set custom views and then reset to defaults, but I don't remember it asking me to mess with view height. All of my keybinds are default btw.

These lessons are a big step forward with SU5, but some things were wonky... in the "Attitude" lesson, my VSI was asking weird... I would be at 200fpm but the altimeter wasn't budging. I ended up using the artificial horizon and just ignoring the VSI and that seemed to get me an A. The throttle lesson is just wrong... I'm pretty sure the instructor said something like "increase power to increase your speed and altitude at a given attitude"... I'll need to play it again to make sure, but obviously maintaining attitude while adding power will only increase speed, not altitude.

Edit: Ok, the throttle lesson didn't have the above quote, but you need to maintain the same attitude and decrease, then increase the RPM to pass.... and the instructor says "you'll notice your airspeed and altitude decreasing" when pulling the power and then the opposite when adding power... which... yeah, that is wrong.

Took me a while to get past this too. You'll need to exit the training and go to controls and bind each of those commands to something on your keyboard. I used the up, down, left and right arrows since they were free and easy to remember, not that I'm likely to use them again after that lesson!

Yes, very fist lesson. I had no bindings at all. Maybe if I can find a “reset to defaults” setting…
