ILS green diamond on TBM 930

Featured Replies

Modded or not, my ILS green diamond on TBM 930 has never ever been able to flollow the glide slope. It is intercepting the ILS signal but the VS is not that right.

Anyone can help?

Are you talking about an ILS or using it on an RNAV with GS?  The WT g3000 mod is always going to give you the best results.

I've had no *issues with the AP coupled for an ILS, but it only works occasionally with RNAV (this is an ASOBO issue, which hopefully will be corrected in the future).

*There are a few LOC/GS placements that are simply bad for some airports/runways.  If the approach is proper, I have no issue following the GS with the TBM.

Thank you for your reply, I tried a lot of times with all sort of kinds of ILS landings as STAR, no RNAV, but never had that damned green diamond in place following the GS. After descenting I push "apr" at about 10nm from the runway, the LOC is intercepted, the frequency is right, but the green diamond doesn't follow the path. I cannot understand where I'm wrong.

I don't have any problem with the PMDG DC-6, it is perfect and stabilized.

I check that LOC is active (not GPS) when I approach the GS.  Sometimes it switches automatically (but sometimes not).  I also don't press APR until I'm at the designated intercept altitude for the slope (usually closer then 10nm).

What is your speed at intercept and flap configuration?  Full flaps at 85kt should be about right, though you may run up to +10 and -5 mattering on winds to hold the slope.

Maybe the case that I have to wait the LOC and then press the APR button? the LOC usually switchs automatically in my case.

My speed is usually 85kts, full flaps.

Once the loc captures you can push apr. That's what I always do and I never had a problem. I make sure I'm at the faf alt, push apr, gs lights up on the pfd and once it hits the faf the gs turns green and it starts descending

It works, first LOC and then APR! Thank you guys for your help.

Interesting.  Shouldn't have to press LOC first in this aircraft, but if it works, it works.

The LOC works automatically almost everytime, but I like to do it manually, like the PMDG B737, IIRC.

AGAIN AND AGAIN, the ILS in FS20 is a complete mess: the glide slope is intercepted regularly but it has a different "logic" from the green diamond and the PAPI lights.
