A couple from Reno

Featured Replies

Was thinking of getting Pacsim's KRNO, so went to check out the default and the surrounding area as I usually do before buying anything, and was pleasantly surprised. The airport itself is ok'ish as a default (I haven't decided about the Pacsim one yet) but I was well impressed by the surrounding city and neighbourhood. I'm not usually a fan of PG but this looks almost acceptable. I've taken to leaving it turned on by default as I've found it showing up reasonably well in some surprising places lately. But it still has some truly awful spots as well - Naples and London (still) spring to mind particularly. But when it's not too melty I'm beginning to quite enjoy it, as long as I don't get too close.

PacSim's Reno is a really good scenery for P3D, so I see no reason to not use it for MSFS. The interior is obviously not as accurate as I would like it to be (there aren't THAT many slot machines in the terminal, most of them are in between the ticketing and baggage claim just before the security checkpoint) but honestly the only gripe I had with RNO was that the jetways were pretty blocky though it looks like they're using the MSFS default jetways so that won't be a problem.

I was pleasantly surprised that the Peppermill's Tuscany tower was actually there in MSFS, (unlike FSX, where I think the scenery was made a year before the tower opened) however the scenery is known for being a couple years (5 years at least) out of date in some areas (San Jose's imagery and photogrammetry is from 2013 ~ 2014), so a couple of things such as the shops near the Bank of America still exist, when I believe they closed down 2 or 3 years ago.

Agree, I had that version. I seem to remember it included quite a lot of the city / casino buildings, but I don't know how much that's true for the MSFS version. I may yet get it, haven't decided yay or nay yet.
