August 27, 20214 yr I usualy deactivate/activate sceneries when modding them from inside the sim in the scenery library. Now since I recently added a few more sceneries, I can no longer see sceneries from scenery.cfg. I only see the greyed out entries of all addons added by the addon.xml method, which can't be modified. Even the default scenery entries are not shown but I think they are loaded, since the sim is behaving like normal. The scenery.cfg file is still in place and all entries are there. I wonder if there's a limit for the amount of sceneries in P3D5, add-on.xml and scenery.cfg together. I am at about 1250 entries. Is there another reason, why these entries are not shown in the library. Next step will be deleting the generated files or removing the last sceneries I added but I was glad if there's an easier solution. August 28, 20214 yr Author Found the scenery.cfg was missing an important part at the beginning [General] Title=Prepar3D Scenery Description=Prepar3D Scenery Areas Data Clean_on_Exit=FALSE This can hardly be seen, since there are lots of scenery entries. Before I tried to cut down entries moving altitude files from external "world" directories to the main in sim directory and reduce the number of scenery entries. I still wonder, how many are "allowed". Is there a magic number? I´m no at 1207 layers. Where are you? August 28, 20214 yr Dan, There doesn't appear to be a straightforward answer to your question as to what the definitive max limit, is but some people that have scenery entries above the 1100 mark have observed some limitations with that file. If you are above 1200 then you are doing really well. I do know that the developer of P4AO which is a utility for managing both scenery.cfg and addon xml entries recommends not having a whole list of separate scenery entries and that you can add multiple scenery entries into a single xml.e.g all sceneries from one specific developer can be hosted by one addon.xml. That tool by the way, if you are not familiar with, has the capability of "converting" scenery.cfg entries to addon.xml entries which is a more flexible approach. I have the P4AO and used it a lot but since it´s habit to mix my/ORBX scenery order, I don´t like it that much anymore. Yes, I do have several sceneries in one add-on.xml already, e.g a file for Afghanistan with all airports there i have. But for each scenery, you will get a layer. The only measure to decrease layers is put sceneries together but this can only be done, if the don´t use different files with same names, eg. concrete.dds for different concretes. That would drastically minimize difference between sceneries. I put together alt stub files and traffic files to save some entries. But I think it was only the header of the file, which got deleted somehow and which is not seen with all the entries of sceneries. I´m glad not having deleted all generated files which had helped indeed but at the cost of adding all sceneries again by hand or if one is lucky a backup file. August 28, 20214 yr OK good to hear. I have not tried combining multiple sceneries since I dont have as many add-ons as you do, but I had read it can be done. Glad you got it sorted. Yep! Deleting All Generated files is a rather drastic reset. I did that once and have learned my lesson!
