September 9, 20214 yr Currently using P3d V4.5 in it's latest (and I suppose last, update!)...Just returning to it after several years and would like to begin updating scenery...Many of the sceneries on the Orbx site, both free and paid, say that the Global Base add-on is necessary while others say the same thing about Regions (PNW etc.)...Do I actually need both? Will there be a big difference with both and do they ever interfere with each other? At present, my installation is "virgin" with no addons and I intend to use only Orbx products...Any advice will be most welcome! Thank you. Steve in Kansas Steve 7 Miles NW of KGCK
September 9, 20214 yr From my experience, the prerequisite scenery isn't actually needed, Froogle made a video on this a while ago, but Orbx says that the regions are recommended for the scenery, but not necessarily required for it to work. The specific regions do help with improving the scenery quality, but it's up to you if decide to purchase them or not.
September 9, 20214 yr Usually the scenery will work without the regional scenery, but the edges won't blend in as nicely as they do if the regional scenery is active. Some, however, will have larger issues--most notably terrain elevation problems, as the regional sceneries also include mesh in many places, and without it, the airport (which was built using the regional scenery mesh) may sit on a plateau, be sunken, or have terrain protruding through in places.
