September 14, 20214 yr Many of us are also railroad enthusiasts. Have you heard about the creation of the largest railroad on the North American Continent when Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern merge? Think of it! Vancouver to Halifax...Winnipeg to Kansas City...Kansas City to New Orleans to Houston to Mexico City to Tampico to Lazaro Cardinas! https://www.cnbc.com/2021/09/12/kansas-city-southern-picks-canadian-pacific-31-billion-bid-for-railroad.html Edited September 14, 20214 yr by birdguy The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. But the engine still runs fine.
September 14, 20214 yr With CP's head offices being here in town, it has been on the local news for a while now. Especially given the counter offer from CN. For most of the past year my SO and I have been going for daily walks in a local park where the main CP rail line cuts through. Almost always a good time to watch the train go by. The other times are when you want to get across the tracks and one of the extra long grain or potash trains is blocking the crossing. Edited September 14, 20214 yr by goates

Reminded me of The Old Patagonian Express (Paul Theroux).
