September 19, 20214 yr I had a Cool-Master CPU cooler that started to go bad and give me a BIOS (CPU Fan error) on boot-up, so I had the fan replaced with a nice Dark Rock Pro4 which seems to work great, however I still get the BIOS error message whenever I boot my PC? I have gone into the BIOS and looked around but didn't see anything that might be causing this error? Thanks in advance for any comments or suggestions? Cheers Martin
September 19, 20214 yr Perhaps the fan is not connected to the CPU fan header? If connected to a different header, it would still work but give the error message in your BIOS.
September 19, 20214 yr Author Thanks, I'll check that. I had it installed so I'll make sure it's in the right fan header.
September 21, 20214 yr Some motherboards detect a low CPU fan rpm and throw up an error. You can set the CPU fan "low limit" in the BIOS. But yes, it could also be because it's not plugged into the CPU fan header. Edited September 21, 20214 yr by martin-w

Thanks, that is the one thing I haven't tried yet. Will try it today. It is plugged into the right MB header so hopefully this will get rid of the error message. Cheers Martin

Cheers Martin Good stuff. Only thing I'd say is that it might be an idea to set a low rpm limit for the CPU fan if you can rather than ignore. So you get a warning if your CPU fan fails.

September 23, 20214 yr A lower limit for all fans is best really. No need to set them to ignore. 200 rpm, something like that.
