CPU Fan error in ASUS MB BIOS

Featured Replies

I had a Cool-Master CPU cooler that started to go bad and give me a BIOS (CPU Fan error) on boot-up, so I had the fan replaced with a nice Dark Rock Pro4 which seems to work great, however I still get the BIOS error message whenever I boot my PC? I have gone into the BIOS and looked around but didn't see anything that might be causing this error? Thanks in advance for any comments or suggestions?

Cheers

Martin

Perhaps the fan is not connected to the CPU fan header?
If connected to a different header, it would still work but give the error message in your BIOS.

Thanks, I'll check that. I had it installed so I'll make sure it's in the right fan header.

Some motherboards detect a low CPU fan rpm and throw up an error.

You can set the CPU fan "low limit" in the BIOS.

But yes, it could also be because it's not plugged into the CPU fan header.

Thanks, that is the one thing I haven't tried yet. Will try it today.

It is plugged into the right MB header so hopefully this will get rid of the error message.

Good luck. 👍

That seems to have fixed it, I set all fan speeds in the BIOS to ignore and it boots now without the error message, thanks again!

Good stuff. Only thing I'd say is that it might be an idea to set a low rpm limit for the CPU fan if you can rather than ignore. So you get a warning if your CPU fan fails.

Yes, that makes sense. I'll check it and set a lower speed. Thanks!

A lower limit for all fans is best really. No need to set them to ignore. 200 rpm, something like that.
