October 3, 20214 yr Sorry if this is a dumb question. I am new to LNM and exploring its features. I hear that the taxiway designators in default MSFS airports are assigned randomly and therefore useless when on VATSIM, for instance. Yet, I have checked a few airports in LNM and the labels are all correct. I understand that LNM builds its database from the MSFS data... So what is the trick? It's good news anyway! Clarification: I selected the mode "Use Navigraph for Navaids and Procedures", so acc. to the manual the taxiways come from MSFS. Edited October 3, 20214 yr by jetlag Clarification
October 4, 20214 yr Right, LNM reads the taxiway information from the simulator. They won't match real world if the sim does not match. Worst is MSFS and X-Plane as far as I can see. For large airports which have a detailed depiction in the OpenStreetMap you can disable taxiway and apron display in LNM options on page "Map Display 2". Look for "Airport Details" in the tree element on the right. This might be the better choice in some cases. Alex Alex' Projects: Little Navmap
October 4, 20214 yr Author Thanks for your reply. It just means that there are more "matching" airports in MSFS than I thought. There must have been improvements with each world update. Yours is a great program. Thanks!

There must have been improvements with each world update. Yours is a great program. Thanks! Yes. When MSFS first released in August of 2020, almost no airports had correct taxiway designators except a few of the hand-crafted ones. Over the course of several sim and world updates since then, quite a few larger airports (at least in the US) have been corrected, even though this was not specially mentioned in any of the update notes. I do a lot of sim flights into and out of Detroit (KDTW), and noticed that the taxiways there were fixed sometime earlier this year. They were definitely not correct on initial release of MSFS. I am also now using the payware add-on “Real Taxiways” by Just Flight which corrects taxiways and signage at almost every US airport, as well as removing most taxi lights that intrude into ramps and runways at many MSFS non-handcrafted airports, and improves painted lines and GA parking positions.
