October 5, 20214 yr Hi all, I want to run V4 (installed) and V5 (not installed) side by side. Prior to the V5 install, I’d like to know if ORBX has the capability to share the V4 library I have created with V5. Anyone been successful doing this? Thanks, Mark
October 6, 20214 yr Hi Mark Have v4 and v5 installed and running under ORBX Library on a separate directory i.e. outside the v4 and v5 root directory, More here: https://forum.orbxdirect.com/topic/190948-installing-orbx-products-in-prepar3d-v5/

What I did was install ORBX on a separate directory. Installed v5 , ran Central which detected the v4 Library; Central downloaded a full version of ORBX Global; Selecting all of the other products in your ORBX Account, it basically installed the v4 installed versions and installed them under the v5 directory (in Library) plus some updates. When downloads were completed, selected SYNC with Simulator and all good to go. If you need to play it safe, then backup your current v4 Library before the v5 install. You can copy these back into the Library, under v4, post-v5 install. Hope this helps. Edited October 6, 20214 yr by Tokitaumelie
October 6, 20214 yr The short answer is no, it's not a good idea to try to share the same library, even if OC allows it (I don't think it does). P3Dv5 changed some things, most notably the elevation mesh, so some v5 scenery had to be adjusted for the new airfield elevation (and some high-altitude sceneries needed buildings and other objects moved slightly due to ellipsoid errors) so the v5 version may not be the same as the v4 one in some ways. This was evident when porting the v4 stuff over in the days before the v5 versions were released. The OC installer will copy any usable v4 files over to the new library during the install, saving you the internet bandwidth, but you will still end up with two copies of the sceneries on your drive. Also, some of the v4 Orbx freeware sceneries use stock scenery objects that were removed or had their GUID changed in v5, so those need to be inspected to see if anything is missing or otherwise amiss in v5.
