Please make the FO to switch "No smoking" to auto...

Featured Replies

Now, with the FO switches the "No Smoking/No electronic devices to ON" and he does not switch it to Off.

I use the Experimental version, not the Dev version (may be here lies the problem).

It would be good if he would set that to "Auto", and keep it like this for all the flight.

Another improvement, which somebody else already suggested, would be to switch the brightness of all screens to 50%, as part of the PFE flow.

And perhaps also turning on the panel lights, at least when the system time is nighttime...

Amazing app, couldn't live without it now, so keep doing the great work!

Why would you need to ever turn no smoking to off?

Because "no smoking" means "no electronic devices" (as configured in the FBW EFB). In RL flights (at least in Europe), you are allowed electronic devices on when above FL10, and immediately after landing (on most carriers).

If you set it to "Auto", it should comply with that. The way it is programmed now, it sets it to "ON" instead, so I have to manually turn it back to "Auto".

No deal-breaker, but that would be an improvement 🙂

Okay, but during the Cockpit Setup flow, you as the Captain/PF are essentially setting up the overhead panel.

So you would be the one responsible for setting that switch.

So you could set it to auto.

Cheers,

I set the No Smoking switch to AUTO at cockpit setup, along with the seat belts to ON.

What I noticed is that when requesting Takeoff clearance and being cleared for departure, I switch the Taxi Light to TO to start the flow, then the No smoking switch moves itself to OFF and then immediately to full ON, like the ding signal to the flight attendants that we are taking off.  I set it back to Auto manually at seat belt signs off.

We force the seatbelt to on in case the user forget to turn on during takeoff as an auto backup.

We'll consider adding an option for your scenario, but we're trying to not go overload users with users options because people can get lost in them.

If setting the Signs to Auto is important for you, I would just manually set it after take off.

Cheers,

I think I understand the purpose of forcing the seatbelt to on. But since the signs are shown in the ECAM memo, It's actually noticeable if the signs are still off since the ECAM memo will be displayed in Blue in case people forgot about them.

I myself never forgot about them since I always turn them on as part of my Captain Overhead Panel flow. Seatbelts On, No Smoking/Electronic device Auto.

Even if the app manages the Seatbelt sign, I think the No Smoking/Electronic Device should be left alone, unless it can detect the current position (ie. IF No Smoking/Electronic Device = OFF, SET to AUTO. ELSE IGNORE) in case people forget about them. But I know this could be a difficult process to do given how you need to write the code to apply the command to the cockpit.

Just my two cents: I would personally prefer customizability over simplicity. If the menu gets to crowded, maybe consider hiding the more specialized settings under an "advanced" button?
