October 25, 20214 yr A friend of mine uses a gtx 2080 Super to drive his HP Reverb G2 for MSFS and he's satisfied with it for now; he's waiting it out when gcards become readily available after the nvidia 40 series launches (still most likely a year away). Recently I was lucky enough to get an evga rtx 3080 ti FTW3 from a local computer store, but even that struggles to drive my new Reverb G2 at high/ultra settings in MSFS. Ended up having to use Render Scale 80 to get where I wanted to be visually and performance wise, but dang it is worth it! Can you tell me what the effective resolution is with that render scale? I want to see if I can find an equivalent one for my ultrawide that would simulate the same pixel count. Like 135 gives me about the same count as the G2 at 100% AMD Ryzen 9950X3D | Asrock X870E Taichi | Gigabyte Gaming OC 4090 w/EK waterblock | Full Custom Loop Cooling | Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5-6000 | Samsung & WD NVME/SSDs | Phanteks Enthoo 719 | Seasonic Vertex Gold 1200W | Keychron Q5 Max | Corsiar Scimitar Elite SE Wireless | Honeycomb Alpha and Bravo | Logitech Pro Flight Pedals | VKB Gladiator Pro NXT L&R handed | MiniCockpit MiniFCU | Alienware AW34DWF | Asus PG279Q | Win 11 Pro
October 26, 20214 yr There is not much use in comparing flat screen resolution visuals to what you see in a VR headset at that resolution, except in the most extreme (and unrealistic) cases. Note that simple multiplication will yield any scaled resolution: HW resolution (both width and height) * render scale factor / 100 = scaled resolution. I just had to get the "135% resolution" I mentioned earlier, then use that formula again to figure out what yours was. I know the visuals won't be comparable, what I'm trying to test is my GPU's performance in sim with a similar pixel count load. I.e. what kind of FPS can I get at that res.
