No Longer Scanning Aircraft File; Help!

Recommended Posts

Suddenly my P3d V4.5 has stopped scanning my airplanes file...When I try to change aircraft the planes never come up on the screen for me to choose...It just sits there...I need help! Is there any .cfg type file I can delete/edit to make the program re-scan the planes? Thanks!

Steve,

I've had a look and I can't see an vehicle.cfg in v5 which should be the same as v4. All the vehicles (default and 3rd party) are held in C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\Simobjects. See what you have there.

The easiest solution would be to run the client.msi and see if it offers you the option of a repair. If it doesn't then uninstall and reinstall the client. The client.msi file is available in the Download section of your account at P3D.

The definition file for all default SimObjects is this one:

C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\simobjects.cfg

It contains all paths that will be searched for aircraft.cfg and sim.cfg files.

In addition there are the add-on.xml files in the installed addon packages.

Be mindful that when you just delete config files, P3D will only rebuild the default version of that file. If there were any addons in the config file, they will be gone.
