October 24, 20214 yr Hello, I'm trying to integrate the GTN750 w/ the Siminnovations G5, or the stock panel of the A2A Cherokee (P3D5.2HF1). Honestly either will do at this point. With the flight plan in the GTN it integrates w/ the G5's just fine, so long as I am using GPS. The moment I change the CDI to VLOC, the G5 HSI flashes green needles for a split second and then reverts back to magenta, with the CDI needle on the HSI disappearing entirely. I have the correct NAV frequency in. I've actually tried it with the correct NAV frequency in both NAV radios at the same time, makes no difference. The whole thing is just weird, because the G5 HSI will follow an ILS when I have the ILS frequency in the NAV radio, but only if I have the CDI on the GTN set to GPS, which of course makes no sense. It shows the CDI and the glideslope in magenta, although it is (ostensibly) following an ILS. Meanwhile during all of this, the G5 PDF does nothing. No navigation or vertical/lateral guidance at all. (I have two stacked on top of each other, the top one is the PFD, the bottom one is the HSI). I don't quite know what to do. I've opened the configuration panel and changed settings, currently I have it Connect VOR1/OBS and Gauge Options VOR1, which theoretically is what I want. I would just like to get any VOR/ILS/VLOC indications on the G5s at all. If it helps in diagnosing what might be happening, even though I have the correct NAV frequency set in both NAV1 and NAV2, on the standard 6-pack panel in the Cherokee, the VOR1 indicator does nothing. The VOR2 indicator works. I know this is a lot of info. I'm tired, just got done with a long instrument flight trying to figure this out. Short story: with the CDI set to VLOC, VOR navigation doesn't work. Can't get any green needles on the G5 HSI. Mind you, the GTN knows I'm on the wrong nav source when trying to fly an ILS with the CDI set to GPS - I get the message "Please select the correct CDI for the approach" or whatever. But when I select VLOC, nothing. Thanks! Edited October 24, 20214 yr by mtr75
October 24, 20214 yr Author Okay, anyone who has a similar issue, the solution is to do the RXP GTN panel mod, found here: https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/521969-official-panel-configuration-mods/page/3/?tab=comments#comment-4012914 And then run the A2A panel configurator and add the F1GTN to the aircraft. Now I have my dual G5's and the GTN750 running in perfect harmony, just like in my real Cherokee 180.
October 26, 20214 yr Thank you for sharing the solution! In general, when you have a CDI mode vs NAV/GPS switch issue, it is because of the way the gauges are implemented. I've just posted the following a minute ago which you might also find useful!
