File structure help with repaint?

Featured Replies

I decided to do a quick n dirty repaint for that new RV7.  I swear I've got the files and cfgs setup correctly but clearly I don't hehe.  It won't even show as a livery.

Is there anyone who's a repaint guru who might be able to help?

The aircraft is here: https://flightsim.to/file/23192/van-s-rv-7

Here's my repaint if anyone has time to glance at it: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ptqq5h2zdt5tah1/RedRV7-RB.zip?dl=0

Oh- I added it via Addon Linker and everything is green - no errors...so it looks like the layout.json is setup correctly....

Yeah it's just a repaint of the default livery he made.  I like red haha!  I have the textures working fine but as a standalone Community install it does not work.

I have it working on my sytem. You'll need to make three edits:

1) aircraft.cfg
Replace
base_container = "..\deejing-aircraft-rv7"
... with ...
base_container = "..\RV7"

2) aircraft.cfg
Replace
Title="Van's RV7"
... with ...
Title="Van's RV7 N477RV"

3) texture.cfg
Replace ...
fallback.1=..\..\deejing-aircraft-rv7\texture
... with ...
fallback.1=..\..\RV7\texture

Basically, the title (in aircraft.cfg) needs to be unique and the base_container and fallback need to point to the aircraft name under the Simobjects folder.

Oh I had the aircraft.cfg edit but I sent you the older zip.

Ok I thought it was supposed to point to the root folder in the community mod.  But it needs to point to the lowest level folder of his mod name?  (IE 'RV7')

Oh, and thank you very much!

Best idea is to look at some other liveries for add-on aircraft that you have that *do* work with the linker and cross-check what folder names they use.

Have fun!

I did that but I definitely got screwed up after glancing at the two files over and over again.

Here it is online now if anyone else is interested: https://flightsim.to/file/23263/red-and-black-livery-for-deejing-van-s-rv7
