December 6, 20214 yr Hello again Dave 😄 So im trying out the beta versions , im currently public beta 2c..... one of the issues im having is that p2ATC runs very sluggish. i have to wait a lot for changed to occur, like loading a flight plan, or opening the departure / arrival or other windows. "not responding" is the message i get, if i wait long enough , it reacts again, but it takes a while. this does not happen as much in the NON beta version... it happens, but not as terrible, not to the point where i get the "not responding" message. After a while the program seems to run fine. Im flying xplane11, and i sometimes use a program to "free up ram", since i have only 16gbram, i see to it that i never am using more than 80% Also something ive noticed,.... i have my "SAY IT" button, bound to a keyboard key. so when im lazy or dont have the headset on with the mic, i just let p2atc answer sometimes. if ATC says something to me, and i respond too soon, i WILL answer, but i will not hear "the pilot voice" say it. this sometimes causes confusion and i believe ive read other posts here with people wondering about this. in conclusion.... the only real issue im having with the beta version is the "sluggishness" i described. Oh, and ATIS says "whinds" instead of "winds" for some reason 😄 other than that.... loving p2atc as much as always Thank you for all the work and for this marvelous program !
December 6, 20214 yr Commercial Member John, There's nothing in the beta code that would make it slower than the released version. It could be a setting has changed. Check the weather refresh time. If that is set too low, it will slow things down a lot. Also, the first time you open the SID, STAR or APPR selection windows for an airport, it does take a lot longer because the procedures all have to be built the first time to display. Subsequent openings of those windows should go faster. I don't know what the effect of your Memory Management program might be, but it certainly could cause problems, given that P2A uses a lot of memory. Finally, the whinds is there to improve the odds of the word being pronounced correctly. Winds is pronounced as in "he winds his watch". Unfortunately, the Polly voices seem to reverse this and pronounce whinds as if winding a watch. Dave
