December 19, 20214 yr New Asus VP279 not working correctly with FSX, but works with "most" other games. Asus monitor driver in use. -FSX starts ok. -When starting a flight screen goes dim, and requires monitor reset. -Same issue with all other FSX sub-menus, including exiting FSX. -Same issue with Nvidia control panel. Thanks for any tips. Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-14700F 32.0 GB memory Windows 11 Home Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060
January 3, 20224 yr Are you running FSX in fullscreen mode? It may have worked well with XP and Vista, but forget about Windows 10. Try that first, and check if your error persists. What resolution do you have set in FSX? Remember that when in Windows mode FSX uses the Windows resolution. Switching to full-screen it will use the resolution set in FSX. The two need to be the same. Ray (Cheshire, England). January 5, 20224 yr Author Hello, Monitor, desk top and FSX set at the same resolution, 1920 *1080. That particular monitor has been returned, but still need to buy one. Thank you... January 5, 20224 yr Moderator @kttd, if you want a recommendation name your budget and screen size. Bear in mind FSX is very old and you might want to consider buying P3D v5 which remains backward-compatible with much of the FSX scenery. Ray (Cheshire, England). January 5, 20224 yr Author Hello, As a senior I really don't require much out of computer flying anymore. I lack the energy to change much, if anything so I'll stick with FSX. At this point a few short VFR flights is enough. I'm a very experienced (if old) FSX user. I'm a bit confused why a new ASUS monitor would not work. All I need is a 21-27" sub-$200(USD) monitor. My old ASUS monitor (which only works part time) has lasted about 10 years. I appreciate all the tips and tricks and consideration. January 5, 20224 yr Moderator @kttd, the only thing I can think of is if you connected the new monitor and it caused a conflict in the fsx.cfg which holds monitor info. I can only point you to an independent review for a suitable monitor and you can judge if it’s in your price bracket. IPS panels are the highest quality and would offer a decent upgrade. https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/asus/vg279qm Ray (Cheshire, England). For this, look in FSX.cfg for this line: Maximized=1 Change it to this: Maximized=2 Hope this helps.
