MCE and MSFS

Featured Replies

Hello, I am getting started with MCE with MSFS 2020 and I have the following questions/issues:

-when the copilot handles the radio, I have both the MCE copilot and the MSFS ai answering the radio; can the MSFS ai be muted such that only the MCE copilot answers the radio ?

-can the copilot perform the checklists already present in MSFS  (accessible in the toolbar and allows to highlight  the buttons to push )

Thank you for your help

It's possible to assign any checklist you want.

We deliberately ignore the flybywire displaying checklist as that is an amateur approach to a proper checklist.

Many of the items are done from memory and checklist should only include vital items.

Since MCE is aimed at real world pilots or serious flight simmers, the default checklist we use is close to one used by many airlines. But if you wish, you can use the checlist shown in MSFS panel.

Will have to double check, but the last time I did, I believe Asobo hasn't yet added the option to mute the MSFS FO voice for ATC.

Yes just turn MSFS ATC OFF!

Easy in menu. Just turn it all off!

Ok, but then I will not hear the atc controller right ?

Thank you, is it possible to have the instruments highlighted like in the default asobo checklist ? It is quite convenient when learning a new airplane

We don't touch MSFS graphics as we don't need to, therefore, not possible.

You can always use other parts of MCE and handle checklist as you used to until you are fully familiar with switches. Then use MCE checklist features like real world pilots do.

MCE isn't a "scripted adventure" with tons of instructions such as do this before that, only say this when the software expects you to etc...

You can use as much or as little help from FO as you need. You call the shots

Go to <Checklist> tab in MCE user interface.

Should see a list of headers extracted from the currently assigned checklist (which can be customized to match the one Flybywire uses). Speeak one of the headers and appd the word "checklist" or "check" at the end.

Example: before start checklist.

Fo will read that specific section for you. He'll challenge a couple of times and he senses you have no clue as to which item tto check, he'll attempt to set it as per checklist.

You can create custom commands in Voxscript and get the Fo to perform a bunch of actions based on what you'd like him to perform.

Fo real world pilots it would mean creating the perfect SOPs (including emergency ones) as you dictate who does what.

For casual flight simmer, it could mean creating fancy custom commands such as "hey buddy, make sure the bird is ready for takeoff", then as part of that trigger sentence have him switch all the required items as you see fit.

set takeoff flaps

auobrake to max

arm spoilers

taxi light to takeoff

landing lights on

etc...

No other voice based product on the market can do that.

Anyone ever needs is MCE.

Its got a full Flow routine.

Its got a full checklist routine!

Just recall the professional routine.

FLOW. (1)

then

Checklist.(2 to check the flow is coreect)

The checklist is NOT a flow.

It drives me nuts looking at MSFS videos...

No one knows the differenece. A flow preceedes a checklist!

Its like they spell AIRCRAFT as AIRCRAFTFS?

Eh?

Oh please!

😉
