May 12, 200719 yr Paul, Most of the discussion in this thread has focused on payware. In your post, you also mentioned freeware to be slow in coming out as part of your concern. The reason I got into scenery design (late 1990s) is that fs didn't have the Boeing Field vfr reporting points in the scenery (the va hospital, the west seattle resevoir). Since I felt a need, I went searching for how to add to the scenery. The result of that was freeware. It was rough at first, and as the tools improved and as my skill improved it got better. Its freeware, so that's ok. I enjoyed the results of my own work even before I had the guts to show others what I was doing.Others felt that way about the aircraft that were available, and taught themselves to create aircraft.Your concern that there isn't enough freeware is EXACTLY the turning point. Read the sdk....join the discussion in the developer forums, install gmax, and do tutorials. Established designers enjoy helping beginners. Its a kick, and it can transform you from a frustrated critic, into a designer so busy creating you won't have time to worry about the other developers.Best,Bob
May 12, 200719 yr Took me a while to re-find what Phil refers to here:>>For instance, my post about Water 2.x and how much it cost.>MauiHawk asked for that info to be called out more on my blog.>How many people saw that and now understand why Water 2.x is>such a killer, and why Water 2.lo is sometimes a good>compromise?>It's athttp://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...id=391101&page=-Seadog
