The Alienware 38 became available on DELL site. I purchased it for 1199$. I have it running now and am quite happy with it.

I have the same one and love it. Couple of things to note:

  • The HDR implementation isn't great as it only has 16 zones and your monitor gets set to searingly bright if it's on. I switched it off on mine
  • The max refresh rate is 144Hz but all reviews say you should leave it at 120Hz for the full 10 bit colour depth and better performance. If you leave it at 144Hz you only get 8 bit colour
  • In settings go to Game -> Response Time and set it to "Fast" for the best all round performance / quality. You could try "Super Fast" as well to see if you like it better. Don't go with "Extreme" as it introduces way too much overshoot
  • The recommended monitor calibration settings are Brightness around 20-30%, Contrast 75%, R (100%), G (100%), B (94%)
