Tires smoking on Beach Baron 58?

Featured Replies

Anyone know why the tires are smoking on the Beach Baron58 ... like when taxiing at low speed they look like they are ready to catch on fire..Any way to get rid of it?

That's snow.If you are taxiing in an area where there is snow, you'll see the snow clouds around the tires. I believe you can disable the effect by looking in the Baron's aircraft config file, it may have an fx file specified. CAn't remember if that's how you do it.If you are not taxiing in an area with snow, then I have no idea what you are seeing.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2585 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2gb Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8 (1T), WD 150 gig 10000rpm Raptor, WD 250gig 7200rpm SATA2, Seagate 120gb 5400 rpm external HD, CoolerMaster Praetorian

Rhett,You were correct.I went back and checked the flight it did.I was December KDTW.However, no snow in sight. Nice day. Did not download real Wx.So, the month of the year can give "tire snow" without snow on the ground!>That's snow.>>If you are taxiing in an area where there is snow, you'll see>the snow clouds around the tires. Snow being on the ground is not the determinant.FSX has 5 seasons; spring, summer, fall, winter, and hard winter.Hard winter is the one that will give the snow tire effect...so you can have no snow on the ground and yet if the place you're taxiing in is in hard winter season, you'll get the snow tires. If you want to see where the seasonal boundaries are for any given month, you can install the FSX SDK, and load the file seasons.bgl into the TMFViewer application. It's pretty neat. You can change the boundaries if you want.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2585 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2gb Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8 (1T), WD 150 gig 10000rpm Raptor, WD 250gig 7200rpm SATA2, Seagate 120gb 5400 rpm external HD, CoolerMaster Praetorian

Thanks for the extra information on the "hard" winter tire snow effect.Strange, but I can live with it considering it is normal ... not a pc problem etc.
